    How many HOF'ers lost time to WWII or Korea? Time that would have inflated their stats even more?

    Does anyone remember Lord Merrimon? My dad served in VMF 235 at the time Williams was training in California, and Ted would go over every morning to their coffee mess along with Jerry Coleman. My dad thinks that Merrimon may have been an outfielder for the Cardinals?

    ted continued to get beat out for the MVP just b/c of his poor relationship with the media. i have read at least 7 books about him...and he was a great american hero and i don't know why a movie hasnt been made about his life.

    in one of his triple crown years, one journalist left him completely off of his list of 10 players for whom he cast an mvp vote....had williams been even #10 on that guys list, he would have won the award.

    not sure how that writer could sleep at nite...
