Our experience has been that it is a mixed bag. Out of the 5 schools that are talking seriously to my son it has varied from the coaches staying completely our of the Financial Aid - Academic Aid picture and solely discussing Baseball Money. And yet at another school they are frequently sending us info on how to proceed next on FAFSA filing, Academic Scholarships to pursue, etc. (very involved), and at another school he received an academic scholarship just based on the information turned in with the application (Official Transcript, Recommendations, and School Application). We do keep each of them aware of every process completed, such as letting them know he was accepted and informing them when the FAFSA forms were filed, etc.

I'm not sure you can take their involvement, or lack there of as a measure of their interest in your son. But it has made an impression on me.

I've noticed that a lot of the Private Schools have a variety of funding methods that can bring their costs down to the State School level pretty quickly, so don't get turned off by their listed costs. Also know that some states can wave out of state fees for athletes.

Jamie Serber is an unsigned senior this year. He threw 29 scoreless innings last year in conference play as well as playing third base for North Forsyth. He was the catalyst for their conference championship run and is someone to keep an eye on in the upcoming year.

I saw Jamie Serber play a few times last year. He is a tall, strong presence on the hill but his attitude is off. I was at the game when Appalachain State came to watch him and he gave up 4-5 runs in the first and when they took him out he threw his glove from the line into the dugout. Needless to say the coaches left. I actually heard yesterday that he was pretty set on going to Surry.

    Gardner Webb committment

Charlote Christian corner guy Kurt Fulginiti, AKA that fujiama kid, has committed to play baseball at Gardner-Webb University for Coaches Stroupe and Roszel.

    http://www.gwusports.com/default.asp?OrgId=20913&SportName=Baseball&SportId=12

Kurt will be joining his brother (High Point University) and 4 (2 @ UNC, 1 @ WCU and 1 @ Harding) other CCS grads (hopefully) playing at the "next" level.

    Congrats Kurt!

Jamie Serber didn't have an attitude problem he's just a great competitor. The incident such as throwing of the glove was because he was pissed at himself for not doing well. I understand things like that aren't appealing to scouts and such but wouldn't rather see that passion on the field instead of seeing someone who doesn't care whether they succeed or not????? Would a coach not take someone because they have that type of "attitude".

Yep...no question about it. I look at it as the player is young and needs to learn how to better channel his disappointment. I'm sure Coach Pope has lectured him, if that is the case, and he has learned from it. I'm glad to hear he is a competitor, though! I'm sure he will be fine

Does anybody know anything about Josh Belk's (North Lincoln) plans for next year? He's a solid 3rd baseman with some pop in his bat. I know he was going to visit West Point last fall, but haven't heard anything else. I know that L-R is on him as well.

Thank You! He actually goes to North Forsyth and plays for Coach Lowe, But i understand what your saying. Coach Lowe not only wants his kids to be good players but he wants them to be good young men as well. Coach Lowe is a wonderful coach but also a wonderful mentor as well. He can get on his players level and find ways to get through to them. Serber will definately be someone to look at this year.

Watch out for Zack Pou @ North Meck

Zack Pou, in my opinion, will be one of the top 5 players in the Conference this his Senior year. He will be moving from the outfield to first base and will make appearances on the mound. This kid loves to hit, hits with power, and is real good at it. He is a gamer who never stops working out or trying to improve himself. If you get a chance go out and watch him.:bananalam
