    Spectator2,

I really like Darnell too, he a had a very good Freshman year on JV last year. He's a talented young pitcher with a lot of upside. He will probably see some double duty this year on JV and Varsity....you could tell he was a bundle of nerves last night on the mound for the first time with the Varisty guys.

Wossa,,, no I haven't got any times or when who plays who yet, was just told each team plays 2 games apiece. I probably can't get there until around 1pm, but if you can be there in the afternoon you can either PM me your cell or let me know where you'll be, either way will be fine.

Btw, weather is supposed to be nice,,,, in fact GORGEOUS compared to last Saturday...

Btw Dbacks, thanks for the report on Central Cabarrus. I know they lost a few key players to graduation, but Coach T usually has them playing sound baseball. Even on down years, CC usually don't beat themselves. Good Luck to South Meck this year.

    Green Hope at South Johnston

Green Hope put together another good effort in beating South Johnston 11-2. Pitchers Russ McCall, Dylan Kipp, Daniel Bensley, Chris Kott, and Cory Tilton combined for 11 strikeouts, 1 walk, 7 hits, and 2 earned runs. McCall homered (3 RBI), David Shambley went 2/4 (2 RBI), and the team had 10 hits. The defense was solid again, committing only one error.

not a bad afternoon/night. one week in for CCS and 2 weeks into the season for Ashbrook.

2/3 CCS possible starting rotation did not pitch. devon harris did not play for Ashbrook (basketball). SS #16 HR to ctr for Ashbrook. Kirkpatrick HR to left for CCS. Bats ahead of pitching, no suprise. Gaines looked good on the hill for CCS while TJ was effective for Ashbrook (and had dble at bat). Defense ok both ways. CCS ran itself out of a few runs.

Piedmont has their first scrimmage today at home at 12:00 vs. Alleghany. I'll try to keep up with everything and give a review this afternnon or tonight. I'm glad they're finally playing. Looked like they were getting antsy and ready to do something besides practice.

Does anyone know if the scrimmage between TCR and McDowell took place? I know our weather was "iffy" last week and I haven't heard. If so, any results? We take on TC on Tuesday and would be nice to know what their other scrimmage looked like.

Just got home from the Piedmont/Alleghany scrimmage. For some reason (I never heard) the Alleghany guys said they were not going to throw their 1st or 2nd pitcher, and brought quite a few JV guys to throw. Must have been 20 or so walks with hits scattered in between. Lyerly hit one about 400 feet, Montana Brigman had a HR, and Timmy King had a grand slam. There were hits throughout the Piedmont lineup, and they batted everybody. Nobody for Piedmont threw more than two, and they all looked pretty good. I don't think the Alleghany team has had much chance to practice due to inclement weather, so maybe they knocked off some rust today. Final score for 9 innings was somewhere in the 30 to 3 range.
