Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't AC Reynolds host the tournament their first year in the NW4-A...the 2001-2002 season?

I am surprised they haven't named Feedom/East Burke/McDowell the permanent host, it is my understanding that they are doing that in other sports. I believe this began last season. For example, Alexander Central is going to host the softball tournament from now on and South Caldwell is going to host baseball from now on, although it will be at MS Deal Stadium in Granite Falls instead of the field at SCHS.

I noticed East Burke is hosting the sectionals, they use to also host some regional games when they were held in Hickory. IMO, they did a good job hosting the tournament, maybe they should get it permanently.

Some school's administrations do not want to host the tournament so that could be a reason why Watagua or AC Reynolds do not host more often. Also, I think if you travel a certain distance, the conference will pay for a team's travel.

Maybe Shuford Gym at Lenoir Rhyne College would be a good place to host it?

AC isn't all that small, SC is.

Our gym at SC is a great place for games as the crowd is right on top of the action and packed together. It is though too small to host the conference tourney. Alexander however is plenty big enough.
As someone stated Alexander is hosting the softball tourney again this year. I don't understand this at all. They are at the far eastern end of our conference and is the longest drive for most everyone. Their field is no better than ours so that isn't it. With Freedom getting lights now it seem much more practical for Freedom or SC to hold the tournament as they are much more central to all the teams

It is silly that one school or a few shcools host certain tournaments from year to year. In the interest of fairness, I would be willing to drive that extra bit a couple of times over a 6 to 7 year period. The MAC, I think that's right, rotates. They just had their tournament at Franklin high, which is a haul for most of the teams in that conference.

Related, but different sport, I think Alexander had to go back to ACR this year in football because of 'travel' reasons...so for two years in a row ACHS had to go to ACR for football.....something about that wasn't right either, but.....

Courage is FEAR, that said it's PRAYERS.
True but we went to East Burke again this year also. They changed the football schedule because ACR was traveling to Alexander, South Caldwell, and Watauga all in the same year up until they changed it this past year. NOW those three games are a haul for us!!!:thud:

Football, 1 game, 1 night. Tournament, if you win, you have to go back again the next day or so. Hmmmmm. Not a very good argument: I had to go to the same place two years in a row for football. Waah. :crybaby:

WHS never gets to host anything. I guess the weather just kills us.
