With a win today against Hickory or Saturday against Providence, Alexander Central should be in. A.C. will not be as strong as in the last few years, but will be capable of beating just about anybody. A.C. will hit hit the ball and pithing will be better than most people think. Can you say fastball.

I agree that Butler will surprise people this year. Watch out they will be dangerous. Their SS Drew Gehringer is a player!

    PICK THE NEXT ONE contest

    Rk. Cls. Team
    1. IND Charlotte Christian
    2. 4A South Mecklenburg
    3. 3A Northwest Cabarrus
    4. 4A Providence
    5. 4A South Caldwell
    6. 3A West Rowan
    7. 3A Unionville Piedmont
    8. 3A Hickory
    9. 2A East Rutherford
    10. 4A Independence
    11. 2A West Stanly
    12. 4A Gastonia Ashbrook
    13. 4A Central Cabarrus
    14. 1A Cherryville
    15. 4A Hopewell
    16. 3A Indian Trail Sun Valley

This is last weeks Charlotte Observer Sweet 16, now pick the next one. You get 1 point for each team that you name being on the list of 16, plus you get 2 more bonus points if you get their ranking correct. For instance you pick West Stanly to move up to #2 and they do get named in the #2 position, You would then get 1 point plus 2 bonus points. Then you pick Central Cabarrus to be #16, but they are in the 15th slot, you would get 1 point. You get no points for any team listed in your 16 spots that isn't in any of the 16 positions.

Disclaimer: The Sweet 16 didn't come out this week in my issue of the observer, so if it did in others the contest is off even though some of us would still get something wrong somehow.:bananalam :bananalam

Just for the fun of it, right off the top of my head I'd say....

    1- Providence
    2- South Caldwell
    3- West Stanly
    4- Piedmont
    5- Hopewell
    6- Hickory
    7- Northwest Cabarrus
    8- Butler
    9- Myers Park
    10- Alexander Central
    11- Charlotte Christian
    12- East Rutherford
13- South Meck (because who they are)
    14- Gastonia Ashbrook
    15- Independence
    16- J.M.Robinson

Note: I would probably have West Stanly as my #1 team if I didn't think it would piss off you big-city boys...:bananalam :woohoo: :satana:

I agree that Independence should be ranked higher. Although this is all just for fun anyway. What happens on the field will decide.

    Independence

At the Independence and West Stanly scrimmage I felt Independence was the better team. I know it was a scrimmage, but I was really impressed with the depth of Independence at pitching. They swing the bat well.
I would not take this team lightly. They are a very good team.:twocents:

I saw West Stanley play Providence and on the basis of that game I'd say West Stanley should be number 1 at this point over Providence (plus its too early to have anybody think you're number 1!) :supergrin :supergrin

Well I admit I don't know about all these teams, and I admit I don't know as much about Indy as some of the others, so maybe I have them too low.

How does the rest of my list look?
