in NC HS softball, do they keep playing under regulation rules, or is there an international tie-breaker?
I was listening to a college game (in NC) on radio this week, & they were playing the intern. tiebreaker format.

Last year, Ashe County and North Surry played the longest game in the history of NC High School fastpitch softball. 26 innings... They were tied at 0-0 until the last inning when some errors on North Surry allowed Ashe to score 2 runs. They did not use the international tie breaker rules... They played regular innings. What I was told at the time is that during the regular season it is up to the individual conferences on how to determine extra inning play. In the playoffs, they go to International rules. I could be wrong on that. I just know in this game they continued with straight play.. It took 3 days to play this record breaking game.

    Tie games!

The NFHS rulebook states in Rule 4-2-Article 6.... By state association adoption, a tie-breaker procedure may be instituted at a point in the game specified by the state association.

Our state association does not recognize the international tie-breaker rule.
