I just wanted to make sure this was seen. I posted both under this weeks scores but for those that did not see it Piedmont had this feat happen yesterday and today. Rob Lyerly yesterday with 11 K's and only 75 pitches thrown. Timmy King today with 16 K's. Would have been 17 but had a catcher interferance call on a third strike. I'm sure this has happened many times before, but it's a great accomplishment, nonetheless. Congratulations to both.

    Question

Does a no hitter in a slaughter rule game "officially" count as a no hitter, and does a situation such as encountered by Trent Rothlin last week(7 perfect innings, but team lost in extra innings, Rothlin didn't pitch the extra innings) count as an "official" perfect game?

this would not be counted as a a perfect game. the pitcher must throw the complete game to get that title. and of course allow no walks either.

If memory sreves correctly, I beleive in MLB (where there is no slaughter rule of course) a no-hit game must consist of nine innings.

My guess in HS would be YES, because it was an "official" game and "officially" there were no-hits!

Rothlin (bless his heart) would not be credited with a perfect game because he was not the pitcher of record. Although he would be credited with seven perfect innings which is not bad for the ERA.

Anyways, congrats to all these boys for bringing the gas.

Another combined no-hitter this week from Douglas Dalley and Harrison Meade of Southern Durham High School.:229031_ha

King would still ge credit for the strikeout even if a kid reached base.

the only way the kid would reach is if that nasty 12-6 curveball king posses reaches the dirt. wow, who can hit that pitch? and who can lay off when its barely out of the zone?
