If a pitcher starts the game using a windmill pithing style can they use the slip-pitch (commonly used for a change) or a sling-shot in the game. I was told it is illegal.....anybody know for certain?

    legal

My DD used slingshot to confuse timing on base runners. caught a few coming off the base early. Only stipulation that I know of is that when throwing a flip change, your hand can not come past your hip again, must end up behind your back or in some of the pitchers i've witnessed, waving at the batter (funniest thing I've seen this year, totally distracted the batter)

From the high school rule book:

    Rule 6-1 Article 4
The pitcher may use any windup desired provided:

    e. The pitcher does not continue to wind up after taking the foward step or after the ball is released.
NOTE: Continuation of the windup is considered any action that, after the ball is released, causes the arm to continue to rotate past the shoulder.

I've seen pitchers do the slip change several times this season in hs and it not be called...so don't know exactly why.

Changing pitching styles during a game

There is only one thing that makes the "slip pitch or the "sling shot" motion illegal, that is if the hand/arm passes the shoulder after the pitch has been released. As long as she does not do this, it is legal. It's a great method if the pitcher can do it. Good luck.
