Congratulations to Ben! That's good news. Sounds like he's recovered quite nicely from his off season surgery.:ylsuper:

To add a little to what Yankees previously stated about Hopewell’s games:

Matt Cochran (06 catcher) threw out (at least) three Ashley base runners in the championship game attempting to steal.

Michael Vaughn (07) came in as the relief/closing pitcher in all three games without allowing a runner to score.

Zach Turton (07) stole second, third, & home to tie the score in the Cary game in the bottom of the seventh with 2 outs to send the game into extra innings – which Hopewell went on to win.

    Butler 11, Cary 4
Andrew Smith hit a two RBI triple in the first inning and Charlotte Butler never slowed down to capture third place in easy fashion.
The Bulldogs (7-6) tacked on four more runs in the third inning to build a 7-1 lead. Butler ended up 2-1 in the tournament....

    W 11-2 over Hoggard
    L 8-6 to Ashley
    W 11-4 over Cary

    Myers Park 11 Berry 0

This game was basically over after the first inning when Myers Park scored 9 runs. Three Myers Park pitchers combined for a no-hitter (5 innings mercy rule): Nate Cudney, Ryan Rockecharlie and Carter Phillips. It was almost a perfect game as only 1 Berry batter got on base via a walk on a 3-2 count in the second inning.

    WP: Nate Cudney (1 - 1) 2 IP, 6 K, 1 BB
