    West Johnston-8
    Rocky Mount-7

Rocky Mount falls to 9-3 on the year, yet still 2-0 in conference play. West Johnston improved to 10-2 if I'm not mistaken. West Johnston's catcher(Jonathan McLamb) homered in the 1st inning, but Rocky Mount held a 6-3 lead until the 6th inning. RM's defense then collapsed behind a solid pitching effort from sophomore Chris Berry. West Johnston could be a dangerous team for someone in the playoffs. They have some boys that swing the bat well.

    Randleman

Coach Dave Brown has built quite a program at Randleman HS. This is their first year at the 3-A level and they are making some noise. Last year they played for the 2-A title. I remember Coach Brown when he was an assistant coach at Southern Durham under Pete Shankle. It was evident then that the guy had a passion for coaching and he would make an outstanding coach. He did a great job at Oxford Webb HS before moving on to Randleman. My hats off to him and his players for an outstanding win on the road against a very good Riverside team.
