Received email today that the former Ringor Showcase that is held in Jan. @ Kent St. in Ohio will be named Queen of Diamonds Showcase.Due to the many request there will now be a Queen of Diamonds Showcase South also. This event will be held in Rock Hill, SC @ Winthop University,on Labor Day weekend.Kirt Whiteside the director of this event has been doing this showcase for 13 yrs,& the Ringor 06 had 187 college coaches in attendance. This event is not a sign up & come, you must apply & be selected. For more info,go to kfastpitch.com.From what I understand, a couple of NC girls made a very good showing at the last Ringor showcase.Way to go ladies, you may have had some influence on where the South showcase will be held.Maybe Ole FP Scout could shed a little light on this particular event.

    Queen of Diamonds South

I got an email as well. This is selected event. There are some qualifier camps in June where the top 15 kids from the camps will get an automatic bid to the Winthrop and Kent State events... The website for the qualifiers is http://www.csrllc.net/tournaments.php ...

Kirk does an excellent job and partners with great people who want to promote the sport as well as the kids.

    Queen / Ringor Event

Nut, You are correct. We did attend this event last Jan @ Kent State.
It is a select type event. Well worth our time. We( My DD ) has recieved
numerous letters from schools that were in attendance at the event. The
only drawback with the last event was that it was the same weekend as the rescheduled Rising Stars. We worked out on Friday AM at the RS and
then hi-tailed to Ohio for the weekend. I would highly recommend it to any
one intrested in playing at the next level. The format is designed like this..
They will take X amount of players at ea. position to form 16 or so teams.
Ea. young lady is placed on a team . 2 pitchers and 2 catchers per team.
They will then play three pool games as coaches look on.
They also have a hitting showcase and a pitching showcase. It is possible to not make the tournament and still participate in the cage workouts. My DD had a great time as the event was held indoors on astro turf.We did both the tournament and the hitting showcase. Very Good Deal. We will be there again if we are lucky enough to get accepted

    excellent opportunities

Just to add a few comments to what Ole FP Scout has said. This is a great opportunity to get exposure to college coaches. Kirt has done a great job over the last 12-13 years to build this showcase. He and this showcase has the respect of coaches nationwide as being a showcase to see "Quality" players.

I was at the one at Kent State in January as well and out of the nearly 600 kids there, everyone could have played at some level in college. The other thing that makes this different than most is individual attention. Although there was nearly 600 kids, it was not run like a "meat market" The set up was such that the kids had opportunity for quality looks and was not shuffled through like cattle. There were 174 college coaches at that event from top DI's to DIII and NAIA.

Kent State held a camp that morning to give the kids one more chance for exposure. There were a number of kids that were not selected for the Ringor that came to the Kent State portion and showcased their skills. From what Kirt has told me, it will be a similar format at Winthrop. There will be a camp by Winthrop that will be open to anyone, followed by the Queen of Diamonds later that day.

Remember, The Queen of the Diamonds is a selected event. The North and South camps are open to kids from around the country. Out of 1000-1200 applications, only 600 or so will be accepted. There are only two ways to be accepted. 1. Go directly through the Queen of Diamonds selection and recommendation process on their website www.kfastpitch.com. 2. Qualify through one of the Diamond Dreams showcases that we host. Info can be found at our website www.csrllc.net. Or at the link in one of the previous posts. Feel free to email me if you still have questions. Campbell's coach Peterson, along with Coach Prescott from Pfeiffer and Coach Williams from Mars Hill have gracious enough to open their facilities for us to us for these camps. Also, Coach Lingerfelt from Montreat will be the camp Director for each of these camps. So each camp will be run in a way that a College Coach can see all they want to see. Thanks to each of these coaches for their participation.

I am grateful that Kirt has allowed us the opportunity to be a part of his selection process and this event.

    Additional camp Added

We have added an additional camp. Charleston Southern and Head Coach Jeff Aumend have agreed to host a Diamond Dreams Showcase camp on July 12. We will have the changes posted to our website in a few days. Until then, if you wish to register for this particular camp send an email to us at [email protected]. For a list of all the camps, visit our website at www.csrllc.net

This camp will be held the day before the Hot Times in Florence. It will be an opportunity for coaches and kids to come a day early for this tourney. Again we will only have space for 40 players per camp and each camp will be a qualifier to the Queen of Diamonds Showcases.
