Week 6 Results (Week of 4/3/06)

Myers Park - Providence

Top of the seventh, Providence trails 8-6 after Mailman's monster solo shot over the 402' sign in center field. After a walk and a throwing error, it's now 2 out, runners on 2nd and 3rd (no names, but both ran well). At bat is the no. 7 hitter (not that it makes much difference in this lineup). The tension is palpable as everyone feels the momentum shift to Providence. Batter hits a sharp ground ball just inside the first baseman. R3 scores easily, and R2 is waved home. RF was playing straight up and had to charge hard and make a perfect throw to get the runner. Nobody questioned the baserunning; it was the right call IMO.

Hitting: CC Bo Kinard ( Monster HR) in the 6th RBI (the only extra base hit of the game, for either team)

John Kirkpatrick was outstanding on the mound for CC. Spotted his fastball well w/good movement on his pitches, and showed good breaking ball with late break.
Central got some timely hitting to plate each of their runs.
This pitching duel turned into a nail biter in the seventh when North Meck began to connect. With 2 outs & bases loaded, Shane Brown hits a hard single to center to plate North's only 2 runs. Now faced with the tying run on secondand lead run on first, Parmer bared down and got the final out (K).

Solid performance by both teams.

The Tigers came out hitting and cruised to a non conference win. The 15 hit attack was led by Aaron King (3-4 HR, 2B). He now has 8 HR's for the year! Getting two hits for the Tigers were Trent Rothlin, Mitch Granger, Tyler Buchanan, and Justin Wharton. Trent Rothlin picked up the win by going four innings while giving up 3 earned runs.

Foard (12-2, 8-1) next plays at home against Newton on Tuesday.

Anyone have any idea who won the Eastern Guilford/McMichael game on Friday night? I don't get the Greensboro paper so I wouldn't know.

I have been watching Mac pitch for nine years and this was the most frustrating game I can remember. Huge game for first in the conference and SV manages two hits (one a bunt single) and score four unearned runs off of five Pirate errors. Willis of SV pitched great but Lumberton is making everyone look like Cy Young right now. SV moved to 6-1 in conference while Lumberton falls to 5-2.

MP05DAD sounds as if u r right on as well as the coach just hate to lose any game like that for sure! OBVIOUSLY great game winning play by the RF for Myers Park great athletes make great plays when the game is on the line, period!
