Had a phone call and don't know the correct answer, so some of you old timers with a rule book can help. How many games a week are you allowed to play? My understanding is that you are allowed to play no more than 3 games per week, jv and varsity combined unless you have a saturday make up which would allow you four. What is the penality and is it an individual penality per game or the total forfiet of all wins to that point?

Four per week is correct. The fourth must be on Saturday.

Being used as a courtesy runner DOES count! It is counted as a game anytime a player is listed on the lineup card. A courtesy runner must be a listed player therefore it is counted as a game for that player, JV or not.

Players are limited to 23 games per season plus 1 endowment game for a total of 24 (excluding playoffs). Again, if they're listed on the lineup card it counts as a game. It doesn't matter whether or not they ever set foot on the field during the game. Its the coach's job to insure that JV's who dress for varsity games not exceed the limit.

Playing ineligible players can cause games to be forfeited and fines imposed on the coach/athletic department.

    Courtesy does Count

JV Coach, after talking to several AC fans, the Morris girl plays Varsity. We are checking into whether you have used up her game eligibility. It was also stated at the game that the RF plays both for JV's and varsity. The rules are pretty simple, 4 games a week, 24 a season.

    WHOA

Hey, ya'all slow down!!! first off, according to my book, you have to play in the game for it to count. a courtsey runner for the pitcher/catcher is not considered entering the game. Also, if you play games on two weekdays, you are only allowed to play in three of those four games in either combination of jv/varsity. if you play on a saturday, you are allowed a combination of 4 games of the six played( if you have a varsity/jv combination). I listed this to question a team not in your conference. Ya all slow down and just play good ball.

Cheeze I was talking to a coach the other week about this and she thinks the rule is if you dress, it's considered playing. The JV has been so depleted, they have to use a couple Varsity players to field a team. But last week she wouldn't let the 2 Varsity players even sit in the dugout because of what she thinks the rule is. Too many rules to keep a good track of, seems to me. :banginghe
I'll have to tell her to double check, sounds possible she might can use them more than she thought. Naahhh, I'm bettin' she wouldn't even take the chance anyway, especially this year.

    courtesy runner?

How did "they" come up with a courtesy runner not counting as played in a game. That sounds strange. Don't quite understand that logic.

According to my understanding...if your name is listed on the line up card it does count as a game whether you play or not.
