Hey Where's The LOVE ??? Instead of putting down a great coach like M.S. learn from what he does as being a great instructor...I think that a coach that doesn't mix up his/her signals once in a while is just asking for trouble...Change your signals, use a different indicator be inventive and selective to your players they aren't morons they can learn new signals..use different signals to mean the same thing...I call the pitches and I may give (6) signals to mean a fast ball or an indicator than the signal to mean drop ball...I guarentee that no one could figure out what I'm throwing....TRY IT !!!.... Trying to stir the pot some more there SG? J/K...lol
I agree. I was having a conversation with Coach Hawkins of USC UPstate about a time when he was coaching travel ball (might have been the crush) he played against Lisa Fernandez (probably misspelled that one, my apologies) and she was good enough to steal his signs. What did he do? He started mixing them up. Hawk's signs are pretty inventive, took me most of last summer to feel comfortable with them so it was pretty impressive when an opposing coach steals them during the game. Just part of the game. I think a Good Coach enjoys the mental part of the game as much as the game itself. It seems the hardest adjustment for a player going into college is learning the mental aspect of the game. If you are lucky enough to have been coached at either the HS (M.S.) or travel ball (Rodney, Ray, Hawk, etc) (to name a few)on this part of the game then you have a jumpstart on the other players you are competing with for a starting position.

I think what most people might be missing in all this is that possibly Hopewell is not behind any of this. What I mean is the players and coaches and the school in and of itself may have nothing to do with what has happened. It could be that one parent or fan filmed the game sent it on to Raleigh and did not confer with Hopewell administration. Do I know this to be factual? of course not but it could very well be how it all went down. I doubt if Hopewell is looking for any excuses because if anybody knows how good a team CC is and can be it would be conference rival Hopewell. But, like any other program you always strive to compete and knock off the top dog. Good Luck to all these fine athletes and if you can make it then this should be the game of the week. I know that Hopewell is a very young team and this would be a tough game for them under normal circumstances but add this controversy to the equation and you have a lot of pressure on these young ladies.
