    Squid.....luv ya man :woot:

You would think CC is that way, but their players are far from it. They're tougher than the steaks I cook. I don't think the SC fans will bother them at all. They've played a lot of games where the hometown teams weren't overly friendly:D

    CCS 4 SC 0

Bard was steadly at 88/89 and he also hit 91 five or six times through out the game and he was dominant

CCS came out and jumped on SC. The score may not have shown it but the Knights knocked the ball around the park the entire night. SC is a legitamate team but they just werent the better team tonight they will have a good rest of the season but if there was any team in question of heart and so called grittyniss it was SC tonight. They got out executed, out hit, and mostly out played. Congrats to the Knights and good luck to both teams on the rest of the season.

2 cents worth from the new member...saw the big game tonight and was very impressed with CCS..from what I hear...small school with LOTS of talent. Pitching looked great, and:twocents: was impressed with the "team" effort....every good pitcher knows that the back up is worth as much as strike outs!! CCS seemed to have it all....loved the attitude and fight in the club...very impressed. As an old guy...like seeing this kind of play...hitting looked good...they guys seemed to know their job and executed...even the sacs that aren't noted are important in a game like this one. Loved the game and hate it for the guys that were 19-0, but sometimes a loss is the best thing for a team...congrats to the whole gang over at CCS....

    Def. class act!!

Yeah...but his dad was wearing those madras pants :D

I said it yesterday and I repeat...those guys can battle with the best of them...and Jared Bard is a warrior. After they got over their initial "senioritis", they can beat anyone

    Charlotte Christian claims tourney title
    Randy Capps
    Assistant Sports Editor

Jared Bard pitched a complete-game, two-hit shutout as Charlotte Christian knocked off unbeaten South Caldwell, 4-0, to win the Shelby Savings Easter Tournament title.

Bard struck out six to earn the tournament’s best pitcher award.

The Knights (21-5) scored twice in the second inning off Spartan starter Matt Gragg on a Tyler Kirkpatrick RBI single and a Kurt Fulginiti sac fly.

They added another run in the fifth on another sac fly from Fulginiti and the final run in the sixth on Chase Martin’s RBI triple.

Award winners: Best Hitter — Charlotte Christian’s Max Fulginiti (6-for-10); Gold Glove — South Caldwell’s Andrew Berry

    East Rutherford 10, Shelby 1

The Golden Lions managed only two hits while committing six errors as East Rutherford claimed third place with its third win over Shelby this season.

On the mound: Sophomore Cullen Park got the win for East (16-3), tossing six innings while allowing two hits and fanning seven.

Shelby’s Darryl Montgomery lasted 2.2 innings and took the loss, allowing three runs — one earned — on six hits. Brett Wease and Taylor Jaynes pitched in relief for the Golden Lions (7-12).

At the plate: Seth Canipe had both Shelby hits. He also scored the Lions’ only run on a wild pitch in the first inning.

Robbie Pruett was 3-for-4, Parker Tate was 2-for-4 and Blake Bostic 2-for-3 for the Cavs.

    Burns 5, Crest 2

The Bulldogs claimed fifth place with a 5-2 consolation win against the rival Chargers Friday.

On the mound: Pitchers Eric Shuford and Jordan Lattimore combined to limit Crest (5-14) to six hits. Lattimore went the final 3.2 innings to notch the win for Burns (10-8).

Brian Greene went the distance for the Chargers and gave up seven hits while walking two and striking out one. Crest committed three errors behind him.

At the plate: Stefin Bridges had three of the six hits for Crest. Lattimore had a two-run home run and Shuford doubled in two runs for Burns. Jacob Hamrick also had a RBI single for the Bulldogs.

What’s next: Burns is at home for conference play against Shelby Tuesday night at 7. Crest visits North Gaston in Big South 3A/4A league action Tuesday night at 7.
