Zack Dunn Hickory Grove Christain Catcher/1B. Tough as nails physically and mentally. Can call his own game behind the plate. Keeps the game at a good tempo which helps the defence. Switch hitter with power from both sides. Four year starter for last years State Champs. Honor student which is a big plus. Has caught the eye of a few D1 programs. Plays for Charlotte Express during showcase season. Had several big games for the Express. A big asset behind the plate when the game is on the line. A gentlemen off the field. Good luck to Zack in his senior year of a great career.:trophy:

Billy Enright from Independence is having a strong year. This kid really knows how to play the game. Billy is the sparkplug for this team. He is an all-around player as he can play any position on the field. Some college is going to get real lucky to get him. He is one of the few switch hitters around, great speed, strong arm. It took Coltrane a long time to figure out how good of a ballplayer Enright really is.

    yow

    Derrick Yow(sp), East Gaston

Watched play and played against alot and always assumed he was either to young or had already signed with a big program. I heard the other day that he was still unsigned however which really shocked me. Barrels a ton of balls, has great speed, and really plays the game right. I might be wrong about him being unsigned let me know if you have any information.

    Derek Yow

You are correct. Yow is unsigned and is a Senior at East Gaston High School.

This kid does have a lot of talent, runs well, hits well, and can pitch it around 80-84 mph's. I would say he is a quality D2 guy in college.

I'm gonna keep throwing his name out there. Thomas Newsome still hasn't had any offers besides walk-ons. Some teams are interested but he hasn't been offered anything. He picked up his 9th win of the season tonight (9-0, complete games in 8 of them, relief win in another) giving up 1 run on 6 hits while striking out seven and walking one. He doesn't throw hard but he made some very good hitters look very dumb. That's the beauty of a change up. Someone pick this kid up.

    Zack Dunn--Hickory Grove

Had a chance to see him play this week. Lots of pop from both sides. Controls the game tempo very well. Did a heck of a job behind the plate receiving. Lots of balls in the dirt--but nothing got by. Heard that Virgina Tech is very interested in Zack.

These two players will help any college team and both will be better college players than High School players. Both are great High School Players.

John McDaniel of Davie County is 10-1 with 1 save. He has pitched 66 2/3 innings, allowed 42 hits, allowed 9 runs 4 earned runs and only 5 base on balls, one was intentionally. struck out 62. Has an era of .47. John has pitched 6 complete game shutouts. He John has been a key cog for the 21-3 Wareagles and has been almost perfect

With those kind of stats and playing in the competitive CPC 4A conference, this kid should definately be going somewhere.
