After a little rain last night Porter Ridge goes down by a 3-2 victory by Glen High School in 3A Division.............. Good Luck Lady Cats to the next round.

a bummer way to end the season

    1st round score:
    Wake-Forest Rolesville 3
    West Johnston 0
WFR was the home team, a 5:00 pm start time in Wake Forest.

This game went only through 4.5 innings. Came up a hard thunderstorm, then they worked on the field, then another storm came through, & then it rained mostly all evening. The umps called the game as a completed regulation game.

I guess(?) this maybe(?) technically is a correct ruling, but for playoffs would the umps have had the option of suspending the game & complete it later? An option could have been to come back on Fri. night & still meet the NCHSAA first round deadline.

Would this same decision be made in, for example in later rounds or in a state championship game?

Just questions from a parent & fan of the game.

Being that it was a playoff game ---calling the game was a bad decision---what if it had been C.C. in that same game ???..I believe that the rules of completion of 4-1/2 innings should not apply in a State Tournament due to weather.
