    12U Challenge

The Carolina Stars 12U will be playing in the ASA State tournament. From what I can tell from the first 2 months of the travel ball season, there seems to be more 12U and 14U teams than ever before.

With that, I would like to challenge the 12U coaches in NC to sign up and make the 12U the division with the highest number of teams to participate in the ASA State Tournament.

Yea,I agree with Bmac1,and there are alot of 14 & Unders that haven't played any ball due to their high school coaches not letting them play travel ball....but that's another issue........:blah::blah:.......:banginghe...

    ASA in NC

There is an inherit problem with summer travel softball, that not only relates to ASA. First, there are too many different organizations putting on tournaments, all of which claim that they are doing this for the girls. When in essence, it's all about the money. The major problem for each of these organizations and it's tournaments, is the fact that there are VERY FEW qualified officials to cover them. I am from Charlotte and there are not enough qualified umpires to handle the tournaments. There's not even enough to handle the Varsity High School games. SCASA contacted me last year to put on an officials clinic and if you check with their State Director, it helped his program tremendously. We do not affiliate ourselves with any one organization, but instead, we are truly out there to try to improve the officials for the sake of the girls. I hold camps to improve an umpire's mechanics on the field, his ability to improve his on-field deportment, and his ability to let the game happen. We do this for all levels including Division I Women's College Softball. If interested, contact me through this website. Let's all try to work "FOR THE GIRLS".

My mistake on the age groups

I have been corrected about the age brackets for the ASA State tournament at Cary. I had posted 12U-18U. I left out the 8s and 10s. Sorry for mistake. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or [email protected]

Would love to see ASA in NC

My daughter's career (actually both daughters) started out in Oklahoma City. ASA softball is abundant out here. We even have competitive leauges that are ASA format. In the OKC metro area, there are three strong ASA facalities that host ASA tourneys most weekends during the summer. I can't say enough about how good they are and am glad to see that they are making their way to NC. Hope my girls will be playing in a few of the tourneys. . . right now, focusing on the state playoffs.

    ASA

Lets support ASA in NC, we now have a dedicated director in Rick as well as a person who has always put the girls first! ASA nationals are awesome and are well attended by the college coaches. The competition is very strong and the umpires are very skilled and we have had a wonderful time attending the Nationals. As some have said, the more teams we get in the ASA states the more berths we can receive for our fine state.
NSA and others do a nice job and especially for the younger age groups. Howard has worked hard to get a quality Showcase tourney in tack and I applaud him for his work but I have never attended a tourney like the ASA qualifiers and Nationals, the play is high energy and exciting.:twocents:

    ASA State

NC Lady Lightning will be there. Our information is on the way. We are looking forward to a great year of competition in ASA all around the State. If teams really want to find out how good they are, they should get away from the other sanctions and play where you have to qualify for national events not just pay your money.

Where do you find a listing of teams in ASA State?

    NSA is always available.

    Thanks.
