Here are the matchups for the 3rd round games on Tuesday, May 23. Leave predictions if you would like.

    West:

North Forsyth at Davie (Stupid that this game is at Davie, seeding priority is dumb.) NF, 6-2
South Caldwell at A.C. Reynolds (South Caldwell upsets A.C. Reynolds, also 6-2)

    East:

Scotland at New Hanover (Blind Pick #1... Scotland 4-3)
Broughton at Fuquay-Varina (Blind Pick #2... Broughton, 1-0)

I'm not too good when it comes to predicting, but if NF and South Caldwell match up I would love to see a Johnson vs Bumgardner showdown. Or a Runion/Kinsley matchup against North's sluggers if AC and North wins.

For some reason it feels like Western NC's time for a 4A state title.

Does anyone know how many straight 4A title's Eastern NC has won? A good bit I know.

    3rd Round Match Ups

In the 3-A ranks there will be one of the best match ups in the state. West Carteret vs DH Conley. This should be a great pitching match up.

In the other game you have Southern Alamance the defending 3-A champ and conference rival South Granville. These two teams split in the regular season and shared the regular season championship with SA winning the conference tournement championship game 4-3 in 8 innings. All three match ups were nail biters and this one should be no different.

As far as the West you have two very good match ups as well. After Tuesday night it will be down to two teams on each side. It should be alot of fun thats for sure.

    North Forsyth at Davie County

Will McDaniels be pitching for Davie in this one? If so, this one will be low scoring and could go either way. :1peekdoor

    John McDaniels

FYI - McDaniels went 7 innings vs. Grimsley last Tuesday and pitched the last 4 innings of Friday night's 10 inning affair. Advantage: North Forsyth?

Man, those are some great games. Chisenhall vs White will be a barnburner.
And the rivalry between SA and SG will be something special

Gosh, I wish I could get a hold of the TBR plane, but it's under maintenance right now.

Good luck to all the teams out East

I don't know too much about the Eastern part of the bracket but as far as the West is concerened I take South over AC Reynolds because of one kid, Bumgarner. The kid is the real deal. I've seen him pitch numerous times and clocked him at 93-95 consitant. Oh by the way, he can hit too.

Now the other game between Davie and North... I pick DAVIE to shock the state and come out of Rich Park with a W. I would assume John McDaniel will be ready to go and with the hostile invironment that Davie plays in I see them comming out with a win. You can bet this will be the game of the year and you can also bet I will be there!!

I don't know if I would be so bold predicting Davie over NF. According to those on this board, McDaniel pitched a lot in the first two rounds. NF has the power hitters that can get it done, not to mention they will bring a huge crowd, and their students are "off the chain". I like NF in this one.
