This poll looks pretty good to me, I think all of the teams on it are going to be very tough.

I know that Shelby should be pretty good, they have Josh Drewery and OJ McFarland back from Gardner Webb and Dustin Garver back from Blue Ridge CC I think. It seem's like they may have basically the same team from last yr when they made the state tourney.

Ryan Morris isnt able to play for Pineville legion this year because his advisor is making him take a break after the school season

Is it a fact that Morris cannot play Legion for Pineville this season?

About the Winston-Salem Legion Post 128... SuperJon is far from having his facts correct, and it is shame to post something on a forum that is read by so many people when you don't know what you are talking about. All but one game for WS legion has been rescheduled to accomodate the North Forsyth players all the way up through the state championship.

Concerning the cost... the cost will be refunded at the end of the season from money raised through fundraisers and such. Sponsorships will also be used directly for each player. Monies up front cover opening costs - umpires alone cost $5200.00.

Unfortunately, WS Legion does not have the funding from their post like so many other legion teams do.

WS Post 128 will be a force!!

Something to remember about Area 3 this year...

You guys probably know that the top 2 teams from each of the 4 areas advance to the legion state tournament. However, with the state tournament being held this summer in Thomasville, I'm hearing that High Point will be the host team. That means that Area 3 will only get one other bid for the state tournament. Keep this in mind when everyone is talking about Winston-Salem being so strong, Eastern Randolph, Burlington, the Ragsdale boys,,,, and at least 5-6 southern division teams (Rowan, Stanly Co, Kannapolis, Mocksville, Concord, Lex) all having state tournament-caliber teams.

There's simply going to be some of the best teams that Area 3 has produced in years, and only one of them advances to the state tourney.

Just something to keep in mind...

I can only go on things that I have been told by players and people involved. I know Pfeiffer first basemen Zack Holderfield would rather play at WS, but doesn't want to pay that much so he has headed to Surry. Many of the West Stokes players wanted to play at W-S (since it actually is the King Legion team that was moved a few years back) but can't afford it.

    Shelby Post 82

Shelby also has Joshua Brooks returning from Blue Ridge along with Luke Dobbins from Surry CC. Starting nine for Shelby should be solid with a pretty good pitching staff. This will, however, be one of the youngest teams but don't underestimate the youth. There is a very talented crop of sophomores and juniors coming. Also, Cherryville should be pretty good. They have several players coming back from college and some talented younger players. They also have Coach Reynolds, who, love him or hate him, seems to get the most out of everyone and coaches the games real good.

You're right about the cost in W-S leagion team, but all the money will be refunded at the end of the year. And i believe coach welch is just planning on playing a few games at the beginning of the year without the guys from north. Although those guys arent Johnsons or Ackleys, it is still a solid group of ballplayers.

a player coming back from Lenoir-Rhyne is Jay Laramore, big first baseman and pitcher that can pick it at first like no one else
