For those of us that weren't there, give us an idea of the atmosphere of the game? Did it feel any different from the other games? How many attended?

Thoughts about the game? How did it feel to play in it? How was it to watch?

C'mon ...details! and please leave out the after game craziness. I want to know about the game

The Atmosphere was crazy it was like being at a college world series game, it was slam packed. It felt pretty good playing there because the bigger the crowd the better the game, and the umpires were good to I thought this was the first time all year that we have had good umpires as compaired to our other games.

I can't believe the stuff that happens with a supposed to be good team. You always see what a team is really made of when they lose a big game. And after all this complaining of south caldwell taunting players and trash talking then this happens. i guess this should shut everybody up now. now no one has the right to talk our school in a bad way. we never had anybody to gash anyone's head open after a loss no did we. i give our guys a lot of credit for sticking together this year and not letting anyone get to them.

Listen, I didn't read one thing the ACR team did or said that would cause them to be dissed, so don't start attacking the team...and I haven't read anything new but respect for SC, so lets keep it like this

    Game Atmosphere

The atmosphere at the game was tense. ACR came to play. They pounded the ball right from the start. Almost every player hit the ball against Bumgarner. South got their sticks going also especially with players in scoring position. SC hit Runion and Howell. The kids have said they would rather play on the road because it keeps them more focused and they are together as a team the entire time before a playoff game: bus ride, eating dinner together, dressing together, showing up at the game together, etc. These two teams have seen each other so much and the same pitchers, they knew what to expect. Lots of fan support. SC had as many fans as ACR at the game. I just wish ACR would have gone through with their claim that noone would sit on the hill in the outfield. Our players always run back and forth across the outfield after a game and then stretch in the outfield. Teenagers out there were running their mouth and maybe a player said something about their loss back to them, but is that justification to throw something at a player? An adult ACR fan said the teenagers hide alcohol in the woods up there and drink during the game. I don't know though. Anyway maybe some changes will be made now for sure. Hate that the game had to end on a sour note because of this. But really the varsity players of both teams like each other. They are always talking on and off the field. Umpires were great! How many times do you get to say that? Consistency...Leading hitters for SC--Clawson 2/4, Hardee 3/5, Chavis-2 run HR, Hilton-pinch hitter with a big hit, Severt-on base 4 times I think-HP twice, walk....ACR two HR's off Bumgarner, and that is the first HR's off of him this year. Bumgarner stayed in there and fought though. Great game! The SC team is not at any game to do any taunting. They are great players that put sportsmanship first. I don't know what rocketrowdie thinks he is hearing, but his name kind of speaks for itself. I sat by the dugout and not one bad thing was said. Only cheering on of teammates the whole game. It's funny that he is the only person that seems to think so and he sat in the outfield where he can really hear what is going on.

    What is Parham thinking?

After seeing my high school lose to broughton (Cary). I have traveled to see other games in the state. I have been surprised to see Parham play number 17 at short stop. He has committed numerous errors this season, including some last night, hasn't contributed to the offense and has created a weak spot in the infield defense. SC has a much better short stop number 25 that has sat the bench the last couple of games for them for some unknown reason that none of the SC fans can explain nor are they happy with. SC has a good third baseman with a good arm, the second baseman is usually a vaccuum and sucks up every ball hit his way and the first baseman is a pretty solid defenseman. SC has a fair outfield not exceptional but not weak. The pitcher last night did a good job but not what I consider to be up to his normal level. He usually pitches a much better game as he gave up several home runs last night. The bats for SC were silent at times but when needed answered the call and got the job done, including a single by one of their seniors that rarely plays. I wish SC the best but unless Parham brings 25 back to the lineup to reduce the number of errors at short stop, and the SC bats get the job done consistently they are going to have a tough time in the upcoming games.

Good post Airman. I believe that SC has garnered much respect. Playoffs are a different atmosphere. If anyone gets out of control it's usually the spectators, not the players. Great win against a great team

    Three things about Bumgardner:

    - You must repect the hitters that hit HR's off of him. They are good and the credit should go to them...not to detract from Madison's game last night

    - It won't be the last time a HR will be hit off of him. So what....you just go after the next batter. HR's are part of the game and pitchers serve them up...doesn't make them any worse than allowing a gapper or line out to 3rd.

    - A good hitter will sit "dead red" on Madison's fastball...some will get it and most won't...at least at the HS level. But I will tell you this, college hitters would love to face Madison...it's the off speed, junk throwers they have trouble with.

When Madison develops a true off speed pitch, with location, without slowing down his arm...he will be devastating at any level

    Airman,
I will have to agree that the umpires were very consistent, a strike against one teams batter was the same when the other team was at bat. You couldn't have asked for a much better crew. In regards to Braves comment about ACRs homeruns. You are correct the guys that hit the home runs deserve credit but I have seen Madison pitcher before and it looked like last night his fastball wasn't as fast. Does anyone know who they will pitch for the next game? There was a guy at the game with a JUGGS machine and I wish I could have seen what both pitcher's fastball was clocked at.

I sat in CF last night and agree with the comments above. But you left one thing out. If Madison gets hit, it's usually early. The times I have seen him he seems to get stronger as the game goes along.
