My daughter moved ahead of us from OKC to NC because she wants to play at an east coast school. We've been to the D1 WCWS several years in a row - she had the awesome opportunity to even be a bat girl in 2001 for LSU and was in the dougout when they defeated OU (who were the returning champions from 2000) at 1 AM in a 13 inning game. . . that's a memory that will last with her forever. While all her other classmates are talking about OU/Arizona/Calif/etc. she's been thinking east coast. She also liked the thought of LSU, but is still leaning more towards an east coast school.

She's excited about playing travel ball in NC this summer.

    "Hummer"

I can't believe no one has mentioned the superb pitcher who shut CC down last night!!!! That would be Danielle Glosson-nickname "Hummer" because of her tremendous moving fastball. My DD played travel ball with Danielle last year and she's certainly one of the BEST HS pitchers in NCboth last year,:satana: this year, and only a junior! That's not to say that she wasn't helped by some great defensive plays by her team mates, just wanted to point out she pitched a SHUTOUT of the NUMBER 1 RANKED TEAM IN THE USA!!!!!
Congrats to ND as a team,Congrats to "Hummers'" parents (who by the way are GREAT FOLKS) and most of all,for shutting down the #1 team in the country,CONGRATULATIONS to Danielle. It was truly a pleasure to watch you pitch each and every time you walked onto the field.:woot: :woot: :woot: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Contenders for the finals in Raleigh?

I would like to hear some of your predictions out there of which teams will face each other in the Championship Game. I have seen Butler enough to know that they have the pitching, speed, defense and hitting to win it. ND and E. Rowan have good pitching too, Butler just has such a deep staff that they pretty much have two number 1's going for them every other game; they also have a very good freshman playing second base not even pitching for them right now. I know that E. Rowan and ND are very good and either of them is just as likely to a Championship. I would love to see any of those three western schools get there. I do not know much about the eastern teams, so do any of you eastern fans have anything to share???

    From the East

In 4A's the favorite has to be the winner of Ashley/Laney game. On paper Laney is stronger boasting UNCW signee Lisa White plus several other college-bound players. That said, Ashley beat them twice at end of the year. I know little about 3A teams left. In 2A the real sleeper is unranked North Pitt. They are led by Pitt County Rocket/Carolina Cardinal (Ray's) pitcher Faith Sutton who transferred in this year from a small private school. University of Tennessee is said to be very interested in Sutton. Her presence, plus ECU invited walk on Tiffany Shaw. gives North Pitt a chance against anyone.

    Sutton

Sutton is a junior ('07) although I think she's an old '07 having started school late or actually repeated a grade in her private school . . . not academics, just parents choice. She is a very strong kid who led the Rockets to the 16U Championship @ the Colorado Showcase last summer. The Rockets played 18U the rest of summer and were very successful. Not sure about all the circumstances surrounding their merger with Ray's Cardinals.

    EP 2A

Just curious... did E. PLains 2A have a mixed up finish in their conference tournament? We had Central Green in 1st round - I did not know they were tops in conference. They win the tourney fom 3rd or 4th seed? If so , must've been a great finish with a very balanced conference.
