Kannapolis beat Rowan County 12-1 last night in Salisbury behind an excellent pitching performance by Blake Ketner (5 hitter, 0 earned runs). Blake induced 22 groundball outs from a very good hitting Rowan County lineup, and Rowan actually only put 3 balls into the outfield all night against Blake. Offensively Brian Little had the big blow with a grand slam and Ryan Query added a solo shot later. After being DH'ed for all spring at Appy St, Garrett Sherrill finally got to bat and went 3/4 like his bat never missed a beat. Gotta say something about Garrett's play at 3B and Kyle Seager's play at SS too,,,, because while the whole team play great, these 2 made some very tough defensive plays look easy on several occasions. Great win guys.

Now tonight (Sunday) Kannapolis heads up the road for another big showdown in BBQ City with league-leading and defending state runnerup Lexington (5-0). Should be a great game.

UK7Dook3,,, I've sent you a PM. Btw on a sad note, someone told us that Lexington BBQ is closed today,,, because its Sunday...:banginghe We must schedule better than this,,,,,,,,,, anyway, I guess now I'll be sure to get one of those good ole Lexington hotdogs at the game...:satana:

Looks like a lot of college guys are playing legion this year. Why aren't some of these guys playing in a collegiate league somewhere?

Kannapolis-10 over Lexington-6 tonight. Kannapolis now 3-1 in the league while Lexington falls to 3-1.

Was nice to see Garrett Sherrill on the mound again tonight in a legion uniform. Garrett pitched 7 innings allowing 3 runs, and Ryan Query pitched the final 2. Jerod Faggart continues to be on fire as he mashes 3 more homeruns tonight to give him a total of 7 homeruns in the 1st 5 games. Jerod's twin Jake also added a solo homerun for Kannapolis. Lexington had 2 homeruns (sorry didn't get their names). This was definitely a quality win for Kannapolis as Lexington was very impressive. I can surely see how Lexington was undefeated coming into this game, those boys won't lose many.

Kannapolis tomorrow night in nonleague action at Eastern Randolph.

SoutherNo1,,, to answer your question, yes its good for college players to play in older leagues, then again many see playing their final season in legion ball as an opportunity to play one final season with their neighborhood pals. Maybe playing elsewhere is a nobrainer for big-city boys, but small-town boys who have grown up playing every year with each other,,, playing one final season together means something. Its a personal decision and nobody is wrong no matter which way you go. Personally, I'm glad to see some of the best talent staying in legion. I dont' know so much about the other areas, but the Area 3 southern division this summer is as strong from top to bottom this year as I have ever seen it talent-wise.
