It would be easier to pick who it will not be.

    runs

Maybe better than picking the winners would be to predict the average # of runs to be scored (by both teams ) per game, due to the outstanding pitching.
I would say no more than 4.

    Who's Gonna Take It?

I think that Ward & Butler will beat Glossen & N. Davidson. Both good pitchers, but Butler has a better team.

Jeffery, the other Ward, the speed....

    A. Ward is not the only outstanding Pitcher for Butler, E. Jeffery has a 0.00 ERA last time I checked folks. Both are undefeated and have played pretty good teams on their way to that record. The team has two good pitchers, a very strong catcher, decent hitting and tremendous team speed, smart baserunners. Good luck to whoever plays them. I have been limited in the number of times I have seen N. Davidson, but outside of their pitching, I have got to agree that Butler is the better "team".

    a better team????

I wouldn't write NDHS off just yet......"team"...key word... lot of people gave up on those girls when they lost Angell and Reese.....but Lambros took a 4 yr senior ss and put her behind the plate...replaced her with a freshman and put a freshman in right field and has been rolling ever since...I think that says a lot for team.....good luck girls

    Two pitchers; does it matter?

Being east of I95 I only know these kids from travel ball. I do wonder if Butler's two pitchers will matter. I can't remember the last 4A state champ that actually used two. Will Butler necessarily start Ward? Is the team better off with her or Emily pitching?

I agree with predictions above. All four state champs will come from the west. The east is way behind the west in terms of HS coaching. Most teams (not all so don't rip me if your school is different) over here are still coached by football guys looking to pick up a supplement. Many have never seen a travel ball or college game. There are talented players and some good teams but very few true softball programs. The biggest contrast can be seen between the state's two largest metropolitan areas. The 4A rep from the Raleigh area rarely wins a single game @ Walnut Creek. FP softball is very weak there compared to the Charlotte/I85 corridor.

Both Ward and Jeffrey have proved themselves thru TOUGH summer travel games and at ASA "A" Nationals last year, Ashton was 5-0 and Emily was 1-0. Should be a close game. By the way, the Queen of the killa rise is Ashton. That was proved when Butler beat KM and she had more K's.
