There were plans announced for such a league a year ago. Is supposed to start play next year. Sort of like the wooden bat leagues that around for college baseball players. I think it would be fun ball but really doubt is actually will happen. Don't really think the people involved have the "juice" to pull if off.

There is a pretty big ASA National Qualifier going on in Burlington this weekend also...with quite a few teams coming in from SC, GA, VA, and Tenn. This should be a great tournament also.

We are playing at the 16U level and I know it is full. I am not sure if the 18U level is there are not, but I believe they are.

That is what is hurting travelball. Instead of just letting the kids have somewhere to play for fun it is all about scholarships and getting them seen. Everyone knows there is that much athletic money given out. I sure wish that everyone would go back to how it was several years ago when the girls just played whereever there was a tournament no matter what the affliation and they did it just to have FUN

I think there are still plenty of tourneys that are not showcase in nature that teams can play. There are tons of money out there for kids playing travel ball that want to play college and they should all be allowed to pursue those options just like kids that don't want to pursue college. I can't see things going back to how they used to be, "Good Old Days", the draw for parents and kids to seek out college dollars is just to big and the softball world continues to grow. I must be honest, I think a great deal of FUN has been taken out of the game because of Showcase ball and pressure to perform for college opportunities. Don't see the smiles, the laughter, and the fun, we all enjoyed at younger age groups playing local tourneys. U may see the ranks get smaller as some decide 24 hours of practice a week, weight lifting, conditioning, travel, and classes are just more than they want to bear. U have to want and love the game to take on the stress of the college game. WOW can't believe I said all that and the Blues are geared toward Showcase, college, nationals, etc., guess I have seen some of the fun go away for the kids.

Just curious...teams don't have to pay up front fees to enter tournaments? Or are there so many competing tournaments that they are starving to have teams enter, thus don't require an advanced tournament fee.

Teams want to play against the best teams, but if you don't really know who has entered, how can you make the decision which tournament to enter?

Good Point Braves...our team would rather play a close ball game then a 11-1 ball game .... nothing gained or learned in a slaughter....
