I understand your disappointments...losing good players to showcase teams, having one of your best players participating at a National Showcase tryout, players going to the beach. Caldwell has felt the sting that the Legion programs in Charlotte have felt for the last 5-6 years.....it hurts....but times are a changin'

The one thing that I always have admired about the Legion teams like Kannapolis, Cherryville, Shelby, Caldwell and others is the excitement the community has for their team...I hope that you will never lose that.

    Good win for Caldwell

Got to hear Caldwell's 13-5 win over the team from West Virginia last night, good to hear Scott Triplett fill in on WJRI. Looks like Post 29 is heading in the right direction. Continue to get great news and sports information from www.foothillsradio.com.

    Caldwell starting to play well

Post 29 seems to be getting it together for the stretch run, that is good news! I still think this team can make a run in the playoffs. Need a win at Lake Norman tonight. I will listen on WJRI, I read on their website that Bill Murray will be doing color on the game with Rob, does anyone know when will Jeff Link be doing his next game? He is really good but has missed some games this season, so has Rob. Bill always keeps us informed on Area Four happenings, which is good. Jeff will be missed on high school broadcasts when he goes to E. Burke.
Let's hope Caldwell makes it three in a row tonight.

To be perfectly honest, I am in the middle of a homestand with the Crawdads so I am not sure if Maddy is State Games or Legion right now. I know he was in a showcase with Justin Poovey last weekend so he might be resting as well. Even if no Madison, it should be an interesting game and well worth a trip to Asheville. Are they playing at McCormick or at Reynolds tonight?

    Madison's Commitments

Three months before the leagion team was picked Madison, his Mom and Dad discussed with the coaches that his summer was goint to be very busy, but that he wanted to give the 29ers what he could. He felt that he owed that to the program and the fans. The coaches for post 29 aggreed and said that would be fine. Well Madison had commitments to the State Games, his High School in the State Championship, and the East Coast Pro Showcase, oh and he was selected to play in the AFLAC All American game in San Diego all of this during the legion season and before school starts back. Please add to the list that he has been asked to be on the Junior Olympic team playing in Cuba (requiring him to miss 12 days of school this fall, so he can't do that)
Please understand that Madison is a 16 year old kid, who when his family goes to the beach he wants to go for at least a couple of days. It is the prayers from everyone that American Legion baseball will not be the apex of his career, so believe it or not the arm and brain need rest once in a while...... Oh by the way, during the State Games Madison's Grandmother had a STROKE, he spent 1 hour with her then back to baseball. My question, when can a sixteen year old kid be a sixteen year old kid without all the pressure that others not directly involved want to add?
