    PLAYER OF THE YEAR
    Sarah Soesbee
    Enka
    Senior pitcher
    Soesbee was named the Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year after going 15-1 with a team-low 0.88 earned run average and 140 strikeouts in 111 2-3 innings pitched. The Walters State Community College (Tenn.) recruit’s only loss came in extra innings to NCHSAA 3-A champion Kings Mountain. Soesbee did not lose a regular season game in her junior varsity or varsity career at Enka.

    Kelly Davis

    Senior
    Outfielder
    Davis earned All-Mountain Athletic Conference honors after batting .508 with a team-high 25 stolen bases. The Erskine recruit also finished the season playing some games at shortstop for the Black Hawks.

    Outfielder
    Gier, a Lenoir-Rhyne recruit, earned All-Northwestern Conference honors after batting .479 with three home runs and 12 stolen bases for the Northwestern regular-season champion Rockets.

    Lawrence earned All-Western Highlands Conference honors after batting .397 with four home runs for the WAC champion Black Bears.

    Infielder
    Steinel, a Western Carolina University recruit, earned All-Mountain Athletic Conference honors at first base after batting a team-high .471. She also led the Mountaineers in hits (33), runs (28), home runs (6) and RBIs (23).

    Infielder
    Grieve earned All-Mountain Athletic Conference honors at second base after batting a team-high .494. She also led the MAC regular-season champion Sugar Jets in runs scored (36) and stolen bases (22).

    Kathryn Geouge

    Infielder
    Geouge was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year after batting a team-high .475 for the WAC regular season and tournament champions. At shortstop, Geouge the Black Bears’ or shared the team lead for home runs (four), RBIs (24). The Catawba College recruit also sported a fielding percentage of .940.

    Tounzen earned All-Mountain Athletic Conference honors at shortstop after batting .376 with 10 doubles, two triples and a team-high 31 RBIs. Like Sugar Jets teammate Sarah Soesbee, Tounzen has signed with Walters State Community College (Tenn.).

    Davis was named the Smoky Mountain Conference Player of the Year after going 17-4 with a 0.60 earned run average and 201 strikeouts. She threw five no-hitters this season and allowed only 10 earned runs, including only one in the NCHSAA 1-A tournament. Davis also batted .548 with eight doubles, four triples and four home runs. In the past two years, the Maroon Devils have gone 31-1 in SMC play with Davis on the mound.

    Gregg earned All-Western Highlands Conference honors after going 16-5 with a WNC-low 0.33 earned run average and 216 strikeouts in 138 innings. Gregg also batted .508 for the Patriots.

    Catcher
    Bradley earned All-Western Highlands Conference honors after batting .473 with 11 doubles, seven triples, three home runs and 29 RBIs. She also stole 29 bases and scored 50 runs for the Wolverines.

    Outfielder/pitcher
    English was named the Western Highlands Conference Player of the Year after going 14-4 as a pitcher with 199 strikeouts in 119 innings. The Montreat recruit also batted .351 and played in the outfield for the WHC champion Warlassies.

    Utility player
    Huntsinger earned All-Mountain Athletic Conference honors after breaking school records for slugging percentage (.683), runs scored (28) and home runs (seven). Huntsinger also batted .305 with 22 RBIs, six doubles and three triples. Led by Huntsinger, the Rams made a surprising run to the Mountain Athletic Conference tournament championship.
