Does not matter how long I've been here. Experience is what counts. I'm just saying you should air this somewhere else. Everyone has dealt with local politics. After 29 years of coaching I sure do know what it's all about. There will always be rookies who haven't matured beyond that yet. You make a good point about people new to this board, they could misunderstand who and what you are talking about. Aren't new people to this board allowed a viewpoint or are you the one who decides who can speak and who needs to be quiet???? If you know you take things too far :agreed: why not follow your own advice and be quiet about it.

It's hard to believe there would be anything but bliss being able to play on a 2-time state champion. I wonder how you would feel if your dd were at another school where the administration didn't provide you with a good coach. Note the other thread. KM has gotten spoiled with all the success, and after next year, things will be a lot tougher. Enjoy it, man. I would be willing to bet the coach cares as much about her as any of the rest.

I won't take a fool's bet. Ive seen up close how much the coaches do care about the girls. Yes, in my opinion I think kings mtn has one of the best softball programs going right now, and for being a two time state champion, come and watch a few practices and you'll see why. I to have coached since my two kids could pick up a ball, and when it comes to listening to parents, i know you arent going to make everyone happy, but listening to the parents, i think thats part of your job as a coach. My frustration by my last quote is as a parent. I was just trying to say that when you think your child definately deserves the same treatment and when you think that isnt happening, if you dont speak up at the time you are not being the parent that child deserves. I cant go back and withdraw my quote, because that is the way i feel. Everyone that knows me, knows i speak my mind, and sometimes i do before i think. And when it comes to my kids, that damn well isnt going to change. Kings mtn is the most organized, they do the most for the girls than any team my child has ever played on. And ive helped coach most of her travel teams. So it boils down to what i was saying, im looking for my child to be treated across the board as everyone else. Im sorry that my quote might have upset a few of the viewers. And as you said, after next year things will get tougher, why wouldnt it when you lose one of the best pitchers the state has ever seen, but i know the ladies will work as hard to keep this a successful program. I know red is very motivated because these last few weeks has been an eye opener. This will be my last statement on the issue, i am ready for next year. And so i will not offend anyone else, this will be my last quote on this board rocks. This is not a place to air your differences if you have one towards another, face to face is the best. Again i do apologize if i was disrepectful towards anyone, but again i was speaking out as a parent. R Codgill

    don't go

    Yo RC,
I for one sure would hate for you to leave TBR. I enjoy your candid remarks. One of the bright spots of my day is opening up TBR and reading remarks such as yours. When people speak their minds, the reading is much more interesting! I also enjoy reading the excellent posts that give information and ideas from many of the great softball minds like yours that frequent this board.

    r. cogdill you are the man. your dd knows exactly where her dad stands at and up for her. this will not only help her in ball but when she makes other choices in life. as for the team, i could only hope that grown adults would use this for learning because it will only help them with future players. i have always thought the km teams (travel and school) was very supportive of the girls and i still do. guys like you give the girls a look at a real stand-up man!! hope everything works out and good luck in the summer travel.

Richard, you have a lot of Fire in you, that is the reason your Duaghter is the EXCELLENT ball player she is. I know what she can do, and she has shown it time after time. In my opinion she is a Top 3 all around ball player on the K.M. team. Keep Swinging, it will all come out in the wash.

    You did not offend

You certainly did not offend me. It's just that a lot of the other girls around here don't get the opportunity to advance their game in high school. They actually go backwards because the schools don't care enough to get them a coach. It happens year after year after year. It's a joke. You guys have trained these young ladies since they were young, and they do have the talent to go along. If they played at any other school in the county (or a lot of other schools), then you would really be going crazy. I also agree that Red is right up there at the top for that team. I have no idea how the awards are handed out, so I can't comment on that. I can see why you are frustrated, I'm just saying it could be a whole lot worse. This is really none of my business, so don't let me get you worked up.

There's a basketball program, one of the most successful in the state, that I have followed for many years. Every year they are at the top in the 4A female ranks. Their Coach is like 620 & 180 over 30 years. Their teams are always like a well oiled machine, a phenomenon, and fantastic to watch. Last year, there were problems among players and parents. I was in disbelief. A few things transpired, but in the end, they went as far as they could and lost to the eventual state champions.
