3play,,,, each area is different, I assume because of different numbers of teams in the different areas,,,,, nevertheless based on when Area III started round 1, Friday begins the 2nd round,,,, in Area III only.

Again, this is only an Area III deadline.

Btw Boxman,,,, I agree Rowan County(22-7) vs. Kannapolis(22-5) will be HUGE crowds. As stated earlier in the season, these are the 2 winningest legion programs in Area 3 during the past 5 years consistently being at the top. If my math is correct, Rowan is 123-47 since their state championship team in 2002 while Ktown is 123-46 during that same time period. These 2 teams have been to the state tournament a combined 5 times since the year 2000 and have 27 Area III championships (Rowan-15, Ktown-12) between them. As for this season, the teams split during the regular season, and both teams have been playing great ball leading up to this series. Should be a great series for these local communities.

Let me add one important detail,,,,,,, despite the rivalry, TONS of respect on both sides, which is actually refreshing.

The Radar near Lex looks like solid rain at least through noon. I realize that Griff & the boys will be pumping water & spreading QuickDry, but I'm pessimistic that Holt Moffit will be playable. We've had a tad over 1 inch overnight & it's still raining...:banginghe

These guys want to play. If they get after it, the field should be ready, they put tarps on last night-1st base-low spot. Maybe another field? Hi Toms? North, Central? Bring on the pumps, blowers and fans!! I'd love to see this game get played.

Cary v. Apex; Garner v. Clayton

Cary beat Apex (series tied at 1-1)
Garner beat Clayton (Garner leads series 2-0)

not sure about the scores, but the Cary/Apex series has been close, i.e., one run games. Garner/Clayton series sees Garner winning both games handily.

I just talked to the brain trust and they said that the field was in decent shape and that if there isn't anymore rain they should be fine and dandy.

My only concern is if the sun pops out after lunch and stirs up a thunderstorm. That may do them in.

Also, barring any traveling difficulties, Zack Briggs will be back in the lineup tonight.

    Eastern Randolph out of Playoffs

My brother, a player for Kernersville, was just informed that their series that is suppose to start tomorrow night versus Eastern Randolph will not happen. Kernersville will be playing at home against Rockingham County. What he told me was that Eastern Randolph was playing with an illegal/ineligible player. So now Kernersville will have home field advantage against the #7 Rockingham County....guess there just can't be a year without eligiblity flaws???
