    Post scores here.

There's 2 really big marquee matchups in the 2nd round this year. In Area 4, Shelby faces Caldwell County. Others more familiar with Area 4 can give more specific details, but both of these 2 teams are strong legion powerhouses every year with large vocal followings. Should be a great environment for great baseball.

In Area 3, Rowan County travels to Kannapolis tonight in what is a much anticipated playoff series. Rowan County & Kannapolis have simply been the 2 winningest programs in Area 3 in recent years, going into this game Kannapolis is 123-46 since 2002 while Rowan is 123-47,,, can't get much closer than that. Rowan owns the most recent state championship between the 2 teams which was in 2002, but the 2 teams have combined for 9 state titles over the years (Rowan-5, Kannapolis-4). The teams have also combined to win 27 Area 3 championships (Rowan-15, Kannapolis-12) with Kannapolis winning the most recent area title in 2004. Since American Legion playoffs went to the double elimination state tourney format in 2000, Rowan and Kannapolis has been a participant in the state tourney a total of 5 times since 2000 (Kannapolis-3, Rowan-2). This season, Kannapolis won the regular season at 22-5 while Rowan is the #4 seed at 22-7. Of course the 2 teams split during the regular season. Both rosters are full of college players or signees. Should be great crowds, the weather forecast looks great,,,, lets play ball!!!

Other 2nd Round Area 3 games starting tonight:
    South Rowan at Stanly County
    Winston-Salem at Randolph County
    Rockingham County at Kernersville

Boxman, you are correct,,, they announced at the game tonight that Winston-Salem forfeited to Randolph County by not showing up,,, don't know whats up with that...

Anyway, back to the Kannapolis/Rowan County game,,,,, Blake Ketner (7-0) was amazing once again pitching thru 8 innings to lead Post 501. Connor Bean connected for his 3rd homerun of the season with a grandslam that broke this game open. (Team total homeruns now 49 for the season)

This was a big win to start the series, but this is only one win. Tomorrow Ktown will send Garrett Sherrill (5-1) to the mound in always-tough Newman Park possibly facing either Lee Dupree or Craige Lyerly for Rowan. Again with Rowan's potent lineup, this was a great pitching game (once again) for Mr.Ketner.

    Keep swingin guys...

Game 2 tomorrow: Kannapolis (23-5) at Rowan County (22-8)

Braves, we need to get you back up to Ktown one of these days too,,, Sunday would be a good time. These crowds have been unbelievable, last night was the first time that I know of where we actually had problems with parking at a baseball game, and as you know ALB is a pretty large campus.

Btw, the hotdogs are pretty awesome too...:satana:

What time do you play Sunday? and you are right, the hot dogs are awesome, especially if K-Town cooks them. I might have to bring the Braves' entourage with me..that's me and my 3 hoodlums.
