GEEEEEZE---------- That's Cool, chill out !!!--- Everybody has different goals, if your daughter is happy to play, and not try to get to college with her ability that's her business, and you're right not everybody will get into college with a softball scholarship, butttttttt if my child has goals,I'm not going to pop her dreams, and if one of her dreams is to play college ball,I'll be there for her to the end...by the way my daughter makes A / B Honor Roll every semester...and as far as burn out learn to pace yourself,I'm a parent that has (3) children, and yes I get tired often going here and there, but it's only temporarily, because one day they will all be gone, and I'll learn to stop at that point.:thud::thud:,they're only young once....learn how to sacrifice...............:agreed:

    "B" Tournaments are a JOKE!!!

No need to reward "medocrity" in travel softball.

"B" World Series is a contradiction of terms. If you are the NSA World Series champion, you are the BEST team in that particular age group. Those teams will be crowned in Columbus, OH. The Salem tournament should be called something other than "World Series" because the best teams will not be there.
It cheapens the accomplishments of the teams that do well in Columbus.

Travel ball IS intended for the best teams...."B" brackets/tourneys are a joke!

EXACTLEY what I was talking about, this is the attitude. Like I said, who do you think makes you better? Where do the "A" coaches recruit from???

Why don't they just do away with rec ball and school ball for that matter because they usually are pretty bad? It's funny though that Mens NSA softball has A,B,C,D and E. But we should only have "A" teams in CHILDRENS play right? Yes, that's right, they are kids and you judge them for their softball skills. You are forgetting the goal, the end result. Unbelievable.......

    Opinions are like ------

I agree with a little of what each has to say about the subject. Hasn't it really always been travel ball? Haven't we always had an A and B class in almost all sports? Don't we have four levels in HS? Sure some 1-A schools may beat a 4-A school but not often simply due to shear numbers of talent to choose. Every girl should be able to play travel softball if she chooses, how can they get better if stuck in some of the rec leagues where the girls don't want to get better. Nothing wrong with playing for fun at a high level but not wanting college ball or to be on an elite travel team.
The Blues, Cardinals, Challengers and many others have started to gear only to the college hopeful players but we certainly do not have a problem if there are teams and kids that do not share our goals. They have a right to be called champion of their bracket if they win. Right? U can be a champion and not be the best of the best depends on how U define the word.:twocents: :twocents:

What makes a team better is hard work....it's a fairly old-fashioned formula.

At the younger ages, you don't do a whole lot of recruiting of talent, you figure out how to create your own. That takes a tremedous commitment and a lot of hard work on the part of the players, the coaches, and even the parents.

Last time I checked, I haven't seen the "softball fairy" that magically places a wonderful softball player at your dinner table.

It used to be that girls spent seasons of rec ball (t-ball/baseball/softball) and all-star ball learning the game and honing their skills BEFORE they made the jump to travel ball. Now, a lot of kids skip the "foundation-ball" and jump straight to travel ball....which has created a lot of mediocre teams.

IMO, that is what has created all these "B" tournaments. Too many teams, not enough talent.

Just my opinion.....it may not be popular, but it is what I believe.

    Last call....and I will soften a bit!

OK...OK....maybe I was a bit harsh....bad habit of mine. Nobody wants to discourage girls from playing softball at any/all levels. In fact, I think we ALL wish the sport could grow faster, in a quality manner, as it is a great game.

I will say that I TRULY agree with MyGirlsBiggestFan in that the "A" teams have no business going to the Salem Tournament.

You don't dare do away with Rec Ball because that is where most young ladies get their start in softball. Eliminating Rec Ball would ultimately cut off your supply of softball players. Also, I disagree with the opinion that school ball is bad....I have not found that to be the case. Most school teams boast rosters with very talented players....most of them are girls that play travel ball! (Butler, KM, Enka, CC quickly come to mind....)

I just think there are too many mediocre travel teams...and too many trophies given out. (I'll probably get coal in my stocking for that last comment....) I don't agree with 10U, 8U or 6U travel ball, either....but that will be our little secret, too!!!

Merry Christmas to all....and to all a Good Night!!!!
