What happened with Jamie Lowe from North Forsyth? I had heard he interviewed for the South Meck job.

No matter how good or successful coach Jurecka has been on the field at his former schools, the Sabre program will take steps backward as it is not possible for one person to handle all the auxiliary duties that made the South program what it is while devoting the needed time to coach football to the best of his ability.

It is no coincidence that the areas top baseball teams are coached by coaches with a single focus, dedicated to their players, teams and sport.

As I mentioned, there were many, many outstanding coaches to choose from and Coach Lowe was one of the tops.

Surely Coach Jurecka didn't move halfway across the country just to come to SM to coach baseball. I'd find it hard to believe that an AD would search that far for a new coach (unless his name was Tommy Knotts).

Do you think he had moved here anyway and happened to be selected for the SM job?

I'm not sure he would have moved without a position first, but I do know he wanted to move to this area.

Quite honestly, this came from left field, so I don't know all of the particulars

I just dunno Dave. It wasn't handled right from the beginning. A lot of coaches got scared off because of SM losing their principal..their AD....and the replacement of the Football, Basketball and Baseball coaches. Then when they did choose the coach, they sat on the announcement for almost 2 weeks....knowing there were alot of families anxiously waiting on the announcement.

There was an excellent program developed by Bagwell for the fall. It was a great time for the players to work on their development. His system has been copied and developed at other schools. My concern is what is going to happen this fall? If you are going to compete in the SW4A....much of the work is developed in the fall. I don't know how the new coach will have the time to organize this if he is doing football...plus he doesn't have a staff...nor anyone that knows the players. I hate to sound so negative, but it didn't have to be this way

    Braves,

Maybe there is a parent or two who can step up and work these boys for the fall. Who is going to take care of those great facilities would be my worry as a school administrator. Ol Hal loved that field, and put a lot of time into it, now it will go to weeds if someone doesn't step up and take it on.
