First off, I'd like to say congrats and good luck to all the players and coaches who will be participating in the championship.

    Predictions?
Players to keep an eye on?
Players participating that have already signed/committed to College's?
    Tourney info?
    Rosters?
Recaps of each team's playoff run?

Please, no trash talk or gossip!

I'd love to start this off. I would like to tell you about Kannapolis.... just kidding.

Predictions? To tweak the words of Ric Flair a bit, to be the team you got to beat the team and for the last two years that team has come from Area I. I think they are going to be tough to beat.

Players to keep an eye on? Remember two rising Jrs from the Caldwell County. Jimmy Messer and Brad Chavis. Messer an amazing talented pitcher who is just comming to his own and Brad Chavis has won the starting catcher job in Caldwell Co as a rising JR and can flat out smash a baseball.

Players participating that have already signed/committed to College's? a few are in now and several are in talks... I'd love to update this list later.

Tourney info? Caldwell has been a fixture in the tournament the last three years. Made it to a one game final playoff with Garner after losing their first game to Wayne Co. That was a magical few days of baseball. Last year internal struggles along with two pretty good teams in Cherryville and East Randolph made Post 29's tournament stay a short one.

    Roster? Its avalible at www.caldwellbaseball.com/Legion

Tourney Run? The rollercoaster has been a wild wild ride this year. Started off 1-8. After South Caldwell finished their tourney run, those guys trickled in and the wins were coming in mass. They finished in a 4 way tie for 4th spot in the West of Area IV. In the drawing Caldwell won the 6th seed. In round one, Caldwell defeated East #3 Union County 3-0. In round two, Caldwell met up with one of our big rivals, West #2 Shelby Post 82. After losing game one in Shelby, Caldwell won the next three and eliminated Shelby for the fourth time in four years. In the Area semis, Caldwell knocked out East #1 seed, Gaston Braves 3-1. The Caldwell Post 29ers are currently matched up with Pineville for the area finals and are down 2-0 in that series.

Garner's got a very good squad. They've lost once in the playoffs and that was in the 2nd round. They have a good coaching staff who gets the most out of their team each and every night, especially when it counts. Pitt should not hang their heads about losing two games to Post 232. They will likely meet again.

    College Returners/College Bound
Grayson Evans - rising sophomore, UNCW
Marc Locklear - rising sophomore, UNCW
Adam Hamrick - rising sophomore, UNCP
Trevor Smith - rising sophomore, Lenoir CC
Bear Martin - rising sophomore, Barton
Blake Lowry - rising freshman, Campbell
Cam Rollins - rising freshman, Lenoir CC
Darrin Tew - rising freshman, Lenoir CC
Jamey Ide - rising freshman, Barton
Greg McDaniel - rising freshman, UNCG
Bobby Fowler - rising freshman, ECU

Garner won the State Title in '99 and were runner-ups in 2001.

Post 232 is also a familiar face in the State Championship Tourney. They are one of the stronger teams in Area 1 and are one of the first teams that pop to peoples mind about having a great legion program in the state.

They are definitely a team to keep an eye on in Thomasville.

I agree JM. They are a very strong team this year, and last year, and last year, and last year, etc.....................

Garner never has a weak team..period!

Forget the seeding, I would rank the top 4 like this

    1. Garner
    2. Kannapolis
    3. Caldwell
    4. Pineville

I need some help on the other teams.

a healthy pineville post 337 squad could make some serious noise in the state tournament.

congrats to caldwell on their victory tonight, they battled back after being down 2-0
