I'd like to see the rosters as well. Have these teams been playing all summer?

This is one of the top reasons Legion ball is suffering.

JM- although I agree somewhat, the return of college players have strengthen Legion ball also. I bet the following of Legion baseball supporters. has increased this year over years past. That includes Charlotte as well.

One team that caught my eye was the Atlanta Blue Jays. They are a very solid program that is very well financed. Anthony Dye is the coach and that man is well connected and a good coach. My son played for them at the Perfect Games 17-U the week before Jupiter a couple of years ago. They had some major players on that team, but what was most impressive were some of the coaches. Terry Pendleton and Jerome Walton (MLB rookie of the year).

There are some mighty good teams participating. Should be quite a few college scouts

Braves - I'm with ya man, but I was brought up on the idea that Legion baseball was what you did during the summer. If you weren't old enough to play, you were chasing foul balls and dreaming of the day you could play... and if you were too old to play, you were out there watching the young stars bust their butt in the 95degree heat each night.

I don't think Legion ball is anywhere as strong as it was a few years ago, atleast not in the east. The development of this new high school league packaged with all the AAU/USSSA teams is killin the great tradition of Legion ball, in my opinion.

Too many of our top prep players are more worried about which showcases they will attend rather than playin legion ball.

Again, I agree Jere. It will never be the same again. Showcase ball has affected every area of our state. Even Caldwell County.

But, I remember 4-5 years ago, many of the people in the West were upset with Andy Partin because many of his teams consisted of eastern players only. They wanted him to scout the West. It reminds me of the old cliche "be careful what you ask for....." And I mean that as no slam at Andy or what he has done for 100's of players. But showcase ball fills a niche...and it can affect Legion teams...especially the rising seniors.

But I have grown very fond of the communities that still support Legion. I hope that never changes

Got to think the Dirtbags will be in the hunt, they are coming off a second place finish out of 110 team field down at East Cobb according to their website.

    pool set up

The dirtbags stand a very good chance of winning! Look at the other teams in thier pool. I thought it was kinda of weird (actually I expected it, truth be told, lol) that Andy puts the Cubs, Tri Arsenal, Heat and Hurricanes in the same bracket. But hey, I guess that is the fringe benefit you get for putting on a tournament!
