Probably more of the same! Does CMS hire the AD or does the school? If it is the school, what a shame. Maybe it is time that CMS handled all hires for athletics.

Too much politics, not enough what is right.

This new guy not only has to learn what his players can and can't do, but also what the opposing teams players can and can't do. I was told that several area coaches sent out a weekly scouting report on SM players to that weeks opposition. Maybe this year they will put their efforts in the AK program and feel sorry for SM.

SM will be there for years, we hope, however every Collins hire has destroyed the program. It was not that many years ago when we had a decent football program.

I can't agree with you more. I can't think of anybody that Collins has hired that has been any good. Hopefully this guy will break that trend, I think he will. But still, why would you go halfway across the country to get a coach when theres a great one that is already in the program. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

    SM Positions

I have followed SM baseball and the entire state HS baseball programs. I am a little confused about everything that is going on though. I heard they had some great applicants, but they pick this coach; who obviously looks weak? I love SM baseball and hate to see if suffer. And the field...don't let me get started on that. Coach worked so hard on it...And anyone seen it lately? It already looks bad... My question is this, I wonder why they did pick this guy for the coach?
I heard Jamie Lowe of North Forysth interviewed and turned the position down. This is just one of the many of coaches that I heard of that interviewed. I mean, why could they not get him or someone else that is local. May be they just didn't want to come here. Maybe they heard so much negative information about Collins and decided not to come. BUT now, we have a new AD and Collins getting a promotion. I guess I am to say the least, still shocked. Shocked by EVERTHING that is going on with the school. Anyone else feel this way or am I being over-dramatic?

As Braves said before: it didn't have to be this way! Only time will tell, but with all the negative feed back that I have heard, it doesn't look good at this point. Unfortunately, I haven't heard one word of postiive feed back. Not a good sign. But.............all of us have to give this guy and program some time , it MIGHT turn out to be a good thing, if not, there will be a mass EXODUS of families out of the SM school district next spring, including me. By the way, when is this guy going to have a meeting with the parents? You'd think if you were the new guy, this would already have happened. Hate to be so negative, but this guy just doesn't seem to have a clue.:banginghe

I'm as big of SM follower as any...we have no choice but to give the new Coach a chance...right now it's the only option open unless you change schools....no one likes the way this was handled but it is what it is.:1peekdoor

It's unfortunate that he doesn't have anybody to defer to or for that matter...trust. But, who knows, he may elect to hire Coach Cottom from SM to help him. Cottom was Bag's assistant for many, many years. With Rummage going to AK, he is the only one over there that could possibly help.

I agree Dbacks, it is what it is ................but you knew what you were getting with Bagwell, the unknown is what is the concern at this point. I and others, as you said, have no choice, but I would like to see something more positive at this point and time. Time will tell! :theDJsmil

Something positive...hmmm...I heard that he was a very successful baseball coach in talent rich, very competitive Texas. As soon as I get a chance to talk to someone over there, I'll post more details about him. If anybody else knows specifics, please post 'em.

The decision is made and I'll do everything possible to help him in anyway, if he feels that I can. I'm sure he is a very good coach. You don't last in Texas very long if you aren't.

Sounds to me like a crew out there with some lawnmowers, weedeaters, and some rakes will make the guy feel welcome and help him to open up to all. Who says the new coach has to make all the 1st moves? Don't let your program slide, get to work.
