    Well ran showcase!

Good group of coaches running things. Nice facility, Ashley High School in Wilmington. Great value. Appeared to be @50 to 60 players there. Scouts in attendance were very approachable and personable, and willing to take a little time during breaks to answer some questions.

Well worth the 5 hour trip.

    Things went well...

I thought the showcase went really well... A good mix of players, I dont have a list with me but i thought the talent was good at Ashley.Ths is what we were able to do:

    Time 60
    BP
Teams were divided on Saturday into teams of 8 position players and 3 pitchers. We played 6 innings and each pitcher threw 2 innings each (3 outs or 6 hitters as to not leave a pitcher hanging that was struggling). Position players played the whole game at positions. We did encourage outfielders to rotate positions, especially if there were for example 2 CF's on the same team.

Craig Bell of the Mariners began a baserunning lecture / drills (Shortened b.c of lightening). It was completed Saturday while the field dried out.

On Sunday, there was a final game for pitchers that had not played secondary positions, position players whose secondary position was pitching, and any players that needed another look. We also had an 8:00 am Bible Study. Freddy had a Q/A session for players and parents on Recruiting, Scouting (What scouts and colleges look for), which led into info on the MLB evaluation scale, NCAA Clearinghouse info, SAT info, (not handouts but word of mouth info), College coaches answered questions regarding walk-ons, scholarship limits, Financial aid necessities, importance of grades, etc...

Honestly, I am sure the Impact tournament did affect some turnout, but the coaches there liked alot what they saw. These coaches included Pfeiffer, App St, Wingate, UNCW. Gary Randall and Freddy from the MLB Scouting Bureau were there and Craig Bell from the Mariners. I know for a fact that several Pro Scouts could not come as they were doing pro coverage for their teams prior to the trade deadline.

I personally had several players and parents that came to me and said they had been to other showcases, etc, and they felt like in terms of playing time, instruction, information, etc... this was the best they had seen. The coaches/scouts were readily available to talk to parents between games, and answered questions for them.

I thought it was alot of bang for the buck (only $85).

The kids there were great and they wanted to learn...

    Montgomery County boys

Sounds like you guys had a lot of talent in that showcase.

How did the players from Montgomery County shake out down there, I had heard that 3 of them were supposed to attend... Travis Mcbride, Eddie Kellam, and Wil Lambert.

    $85 per player.

He paid for his staffs hotel and meals.

Each player got two days to showcase tools and received a numbered shirt.

Heard that he was sending each scout in attendence a check for mileage.

Not sure he ever made it to the bank. I dare you to find a better two day event cheaper than this one.

What do you mean he is laughing all the way to the bank???? PLease explain that to me... You are looking at Umpire fees, facilities, travel for those who worked it, etc... WHat about those showcases that charge anywhere from $150-$400 for 2 days? If you have a problem with that, then maybe you should ask somebody in the know instead of making comments on the board!

Freddy does take care of his coaches, I know that for a fact. I recently learned that instead of taking a salary to be the GM of the Copperhead Showcase teams, he divided it among his coaches to pay us more.

When Freddy coached the Anglers, he did not charge kids to play he is about the kids... spend some time with him, real time and you see that...

As far as other showcases go, he doesnt care what others do with their money... Freddy has always been oe to help others, if you know him you know that...

If you have a problem with Freddy and his showcase, you need to talk to him yourself, if you have the courage, or you can talk directly to me, but if you dont know wht's going on here, and it is obvious you dont in this case, then you ought to keep your mouth shut.

I apologize for being brash, but this made me mad to read...
