    A Great Season

Paul was signed as a free agent, right? He's had a great season with Danville even though his bat has cooled off. He was hitting around .350 a month ago. This is a young man who, in my opinion, should have been drafted.

    Right, again, Papabear.

While we're at it: Another area free agent who exposes the scouting community's fallibility with every outing: Jonathan Hovis with the Staten Island Yankees. ,83 ERA over 32.2 innings, 26 K's, 11 BB's, .191 OBA.

    Another Guy The Scouts Missed

Prep, I couldn't believe the scouts missed Hovis with the numbers he put up for Carolina....and he was consistent. I'm glad the Yanks picked him up and give him a chance. While I do understand the draft and follow concept, I personally think there are WAY too many high school and JUCO's drafted over the guys who have proven themselves at the collegiate level. Look at most of the JUCO competition...they're playing D2 junior varsity teams. No wonder they put up such big numbers. I just don't believe in scouts "projecting" the ability of all of these younger players to play at the major league level. I like the Missouri concept, which is "show me".:twocents:
