do LL umps also volunteer their services during the local leagues' regular season games? or is the "volunteer" thing just a regionals and world series thing?

Trust me, the scouts see things like that more so than the talent! This kid may be very talented, but if I was his coach, he would either act and play the game with respect or he wouldn't be on the team. He reminds me of a young Terrell Owens. With all his complaining and trash talking, give me a break. Let's see how he acts when gets to high school! And by the way, wear the uniform (which includes the hat) with repsect!

Maybe I'm just too much old school, but I'd love to see all the American teams spend their 'off-days' at the barber shop. Baseball players should not only act like baseball players, they should look like baseball players, too. Even Johnny Damon got a hair cut once he joined the Yankees. They should be taught pride in the way they look, especially in the LLWS.

Couple things,,,, I also noticed the long hair and I asked my youngest son who is in high school and wears short hair,,, my son told me that long hair is a middle school-age thing. But I agree, if I was coaching, there would be some haircuts. For whatever reason, today's coaches are not as strict on things like that as they were years ago. I've seen some long hair at the high school level also, which I agree is simply disrepect toward the game.

The other thing,,,, was the championship game ever started yesterday? Someone said they play tonight. If so, what time? Thanks.

where do you draw the line?

believe me, I agree with you; but even HS & college players now have their own "styles". some wear necklaces, long hair, different sock lengths showing, etc., even the way they wear their hat!
I would think as a coach in today's world, say a college coach, that there must be some degree of flexibility exhibited in allowing for a player to be himself. this would be a good topic to have college coaches to comment on in this forum.

    Good idea

How many very good players that you know had that kind of attitude when they were 12-13 yo. Most of them outgrow it when they get away from their dad coaching them. Usually when they get to HS they lose that attitude or face riding the bench or getting cut.

    how

if you're a college coach say in the ACC or SEC, how do you handle the recruiting of a top-notch prospect that projects to be a "difference-maker" to your program, but maybe he has a fault or 2 that's been mentioned or implied here in earlier posts? wouldn't it be difficult to pass over someone like this?

A long way to go before he's a college recruit... How many studs have you seen at 12 or 13 that just peak early and have nothing special at 16 or 17? IMHO, wait and see...

    agree

I agree & I was not implying that any of these LL'ers will be college recruits. But even HS jr's & sr's have their own individual "styles".
