I agree, but when the coach has the floor in a meeting and does not inform the boys why and how, what do the boys think and do? Especially new comers and freshmen! They ask their parents for help so they can understand exactly what is happening. We try to get help and answers, but unfortunately we don't always get a response. So, we go to boards like these, which by the way, has more good information and advise than one could imagine. :satana:

    An Observation

In order to have OPEN FACILITY or workouts, they must be available to anybody that wants to try out, if they exceed 8 for skill development.

Check the book and subsequent interpretations on that...

    Football Coach?

Maybe if he wasn't the Football Coach too this wouldn't be so vague and unorganized?

    not unusual

it's not unusual for a HS baseball coach to also coach another sport, especially as an asst coach in the other sport.

i was present at the meeting on thursday and this is my take on everything. For the first week or two there is just going to be open fields so that he can see as many players as possible play so he can identify the players he can work with and make immediate improvements to during the off season. The whole part about bein invited or not is beeing looked at all wrong. He said some days he may choose just to have the upper classmen, and other days have the lower classmen. This way he can attempt to handle such large numbers and be able to see everyone play and make assesments on everyone. The only reason he wont be involved in running the workouts is because he is not allowed to participate in the "open field" variety. He said that hopefully these wont last more then a week or two and then they will schedule more traditional 8-man workouts, where he can work with and coach the players. There has been many opportunites to have programs work with the players in a fall program this fall but the reason coach J hasnt commited to anything is because he wants to do what he feels is best for the program and he feels that he doesnt know enough about these differnt organizations to make the best decision. i hope this helped to clear things up a bit

    Off Season Work Outs

I think all the coaches here would agree with me in saying the the NCHSSA has interpeted the rules differently about 10000000 times. Open field coach present not allowed to coach then open field no coaches can be present period etc etc etc etc. We did away with open field because we got different answers from people working in the same office. Dead zones we just do conditioning. Non dead zones (8 only) rotate them each day five days a week.
