Enjoyed reading your post Ole Lefty. My son too was an 82 left with unbelievable HS stats at 4A and showcase level. He didn't exactly have D1 coaches beating his door down. He was, however, a great student and is now pitching at Davidson, and loving every minute of it. Sometimes it takes a big SAT score to get them to notice. I can assure you he will be fired up when he gets a chance to face the schools that weren't interested.

BaseballMan- your family and your son are in for a treat. Wait til you get a chance to meet Rob Wilson. One of the classiest young man that you will ever meet....and superbly talented.

Oh...and I better mention Will and Joanna Wilson. After meeting them you will understand why Rob is the way he is...plus, if I don't mention Joanna, I may never get one of her homemade cookies again...they're the best.

RSPM- All lefties are in their own fraternity. No one else like them :)...but having said that, RSPM Jr has high 80's velocity and a future with no limits. I can't wait to see him this school year

Let's see..a 6'6"-7", 190-200 lbs. a tailing FB, above average CB and keeps improving ever year...yep, it's time to be looking for an advisor and I'm happy to know just the person :)

    Hey, Lefty...

I played some semi-pro ball back in the late '90's, you have any idea where I could get that started up again. I heard there was a team in Hickory.

I've been workin' out and my fastball's back up there in the low 90's. Gotta BB that falls off the table.

    Get back to me soon.

    Dear Andro,

I have recently read a post of yours declaring that your FB is traveling in the low 90's. Now, we have discussed on this board the futility of "pumping up" one's velocity and how this can be detrimental during your recruiting process.

I would suggest that you work on getting that arc out of your fastball first and the fact that your CB has been described as 'loopy" is something I suggest that you work on as well.

I'm sure if you continue to work hard in your efforts to improve, lefty may be able to help you with a good church league softball team...the same one he captains.

Good luck in your endeavors and keep us posted

    your former pitching instructor,

    Braves

    Opinions Needed

First things first. Thanks to all the experts who posts to this board. The information is great. Now for the question. My son fits into the runs 7.0 category, is considered a great defensive OF, has a good bat and can hit with power. He is also a straight A student. He has received a lot of interest from mid tier Div I schools and limited interest from the bigger schools. We have the opinion that is much better to go to a school where you are being heavily recruited than to go to a school where there is some interest, but they are not aggressively recruiting you. There is also some pressure to commit by the end of this month, so the schools will know if they need to look elsewhere. I need any and all honest opinions.
