Once again Emily Tucker pitched a great game. The Belmont bats got fired up again in the 4th. Scored 4 runs. Scored 5 in the fifth. Before that the score was close 4-3. Super job, making history in Belmont.

Belmont will host Mt. Holly on Monday at Frady field in Belmont.

Just wanted to say a few words about the KINGS MOUNTAIN MIDDLE SCHOOL team. If anyone watched them play at the beginning of the season and then these last few games you will see a team that has really matured. Not only the pitcher, but the entire team (infielders and outfielders) are playing strong defense. I did not see any real power hitters on the team, however they have good base hitters all thru their line-up. It's hard to tell the starting batting order from the middle and the end. I also witnessed some spectacular base running from these girls. I think Coach Grayson must have waved another magic wand! We may very well see another State contending team in a couple years.

I hear that most of these girls from KM play on the same TB team, does anyone know if this is true? I would think TB will be especially important for any middle school 8th grader with the near year and half wait before the start of their high school softball.

    CF,

The game is at R.S. We will have the music rocking, and hopefully some bats, too. I know they have a good pitcher. Come on up and see us, stranger!

Stanley also feeds East Gaston, these two teams met in the semi finals last year as well, with Stanley advancing and eventually winning the County Championship.

Ledford Middle School ended its season yesterday, splitting a double-header with Central Davidson. Central won the first game, 1-0, Ledford won the second game, also 1-0. Ledford finished its best ever season with a record of 11-3 to take second place in the conference behind North Davidson (14-0). Central finished 10-4. Great games, good defense and timely hitting by both teams. Unfortunately these were the last games of the year as our conference does not have a post season tournament.
