If Freedom beats East Burke, will they have a shot at the playoffs even tho they lost 6 games?? They will come in 3rd in the conference with a 4-2 conference record.

Courage is FEAR, that said it's PRAYERS.
Freedom is in with a win over East Burke or an Alexander Central loss to South Caldwell.

East Burke is in with a win over Freedom. (4 Wins Overall, 2 In the Conference Should be enough, but not guaranteed)

McDowell is in with a win over AC Reynolds. (4 Wins Overall, 2 In the Conference Should be enough, but not guaranteed)

AC Reynolds, Alexander Central, Watauga, and South Caldwell are already in the playoffs.

    How do they do it?

Do they select the teams before they split them into A and AA? AC Reynolds, Alexander Central, and Watauga will all be 4A. Freedom, if they get in will be AA. East Burke could still get in with a win over Freedom, and they would also be AA. Reynolds should be the #1 seed in the West 4A.:xyxwave:

My understanding is that they take all teams who have qualified for the playoffs (4 wins). They throw out the rest, and then using the ADM's (which have not come out yet), they divide them up from there. Essentialy, automatic qualifiers get their slots (1 seed from conference, 2 seed, etc.) then the remaining teams left are wild cards. Top records advance on.

Remember, as well, that a team who played an endowment game is allowed to drop a loss from their record.

Sounds confusing? It is to me.

It is confusing. Somehow they have to come up with enough teams to make it work. It is possible that some 3 win teams will make it into the 4a/4aa playoffs. Even if McDowell, Freedom, or East Burke lose, they could still get in depending on how everything shakes out after Friday night. At least thats the way I inderstand it. What will be fun is the seedings and who gets the home games in the first two rounds, always some contreversy there.

Freedom is the biggest school in the state west of Charlotte? Damn.

I liked the old way they did the playoffs where each conference knew how many was gonna go to the playoffs from the time they started in the summer.

IF Freedom beats E Burke and ACHS wins at S Caldwell there will be a 3way tie for second with ACHS, Freedon and Watauga haven 4-2 records.
