what is the fairest way to select the teams?

For Baseball, High school coaches nominate players from their team to attend a tryout for their region and a team is selected from that group and the same for the actual East/West 07 team, last year for baseball, players were nominated by high school coach and they attended a tryout.

 

I agree with what you say that way it doesn't become so much a popularity contest, but talent is picked on the field..also may I add get coaches from other states to be the judges then there will be no partiality in their votes.

How about starting with all-state performer from the East and West, and then go with all-conference for the same areas. I know most will say this is political but unless U have an open tryout with impartial judges as GURU has stated.

When is state championships next year & will there be enough time to do the tryouts and give the seniors time to go to the beach for grad week?


You really can't be serious about using all conference selections. I can tell you that there are girls that make the all conference team just because there team has so many spots to give and other teams may only have one or two all conference selections.

No matter how you choose there will be some pretty good girls left off these teams while some other mediocre (sp) girls get to play.

 

Tryouts is the way to go!

Isn't All-State and All-Conference picked by coaches nominating their own girls? How does the process work? If you have a coach who is coaching because no one else would coach, do you really think they would go the extra mile to nominate their girls, it happened at my daughter's school, even after several parents inquired about it.

and then we play ball, seems pretty easy to me.

I don't like East and West. It should be North and South. The South team could wear gray uniforms and the North blue.



















I like the Allstar game concept, lets play the games first then we b--ch.

 

The BEACH? All the girls I know would pass up the beach in a minute to play in an All-Star game. Most already pass it up to play in tournaments now, so I don't think too many would pass on a game like this. Just my opinion.
