To be honest, its never good to see games get that out of hand. Just for the record, McDowell's leading scorer didn't play and coach Silver had every single player in the game before the first quarter ended...so it wasn't like anybody was trying to run up the score. The one good thing we got coming out of that game was that our four freshmen who we expect to have a role in the success of our season got significant minutes. Other than that, there wasn't much to get excited over last night.

It will be back to business for McDowell on tuesday night when they host RS-Central. Should be a good match up. RS is ranked #10 in the Charlotte Observer Sweet 16. The last time MHS played Burns in a regular season game was in 1988. In years past the Titans always played Mitchell County, but they no longer want to play us so we have to fill the schedule with someone.

It's nice to see no one junped the gun and blamed the coach for the lopsided score. Great sportsmanship does exist.

Cabump, the problem is, McDowell doesn't have any bad players, so to speak, so the 2nd team scored as easily as the 1st. Maybe a little drop off in defense and rebounding, but not in scoring, which brings me to another point.

These freshmen are skilled, and very strong physically for their age.

Dribbles, I would go ahead and include the names, Autumn Ward and Kaitlyn Gallion, to challenge Connelly for frosh of the year. Xandie Gellman will contribute, but the others will score a little more, I think. Ward has a particularly sweet stroke from 3-point land.

    just a few observations...

I'm happy, and the conference as a whole is happy to see Alexander Central being competitive and winning games. Wilkes Central over the years have been pretty decent in the 2A ranks I would assume that is still the case. I'm courious how did Alexander Central fare against Hickory the other night?

Also, Watauga blew a second half lead and loss to Mitchell in their home opener 58-53 (OT).

I'm not complaining or trying to upset anyone. I only wish I was coaching with that much talent. I know i will keep an eye on McDowell and will try to catch a game or two. Good luck this year.
