    CMS dismissed HS at 2:15.

I can only speak of how we did it in NJ. This is my 1st year here at CMS. I am not quite sure the reasoning behind it but I don't beleive it wasn't an issue of facility, faculty staying or cost.

Most students (atheltes included)/or PTA parents worked the door/conession stands. Some schools charged for $2.00 for JV games and some didn't charge students w/ valid ID’s. Only the varisty games were charged $4.00. The lower cost for JV allowed more students to come support the home team.

Also all home games started at 4:45 which allowed for more parent participation. I do know that has changed because they use to start at 4pm but schools were stating parents don't particpate but Parents were stating that school schedules conflicted w/those of working parents.

Plus, w/ the running clock it kinds stinks to pay $5 to see your child play for 28 minutes and if you make it a half-time 14mins.

I don't live in the QC so I don't know the entire scope of the problem but if CMS schools dismiss at 2:15, then I would propose starting JV games at 3 pm. The issue of kids getting home late from basketball games has been quite the conversation in recent months across Charlotte. You know its a good thing these folks don't live in rural areas like I do, they would really be raising a fuss.

If these schools would start at 3pm, and then be strict when it comes to time management (i.e five minutes for halftime and seven minutes for pregame warmups) then it would allow varsity games to start at a more decent time and would keep from having to resort to the option of splitting up the games. Plus it would also keep the integrity of the JV game.

    Freedom JV wins over Asheville

Freedom won this game 32-25 the same way they beat Asheville to start the season. Freedom is able to pressure alot of teams with the quickness of the guards.. Asheville just didn't have the ball handlers and that was the biggest difference in the game. Asheville played alot better this game as they picked up their defense and really made Freedom work to get open shots, still the game wasnt really as close as the score indicated . In the last couple of mins Freedom couldnt seem to keep from fouling and put Asheville on the line and they didnt miss. No one really stood out for Freedom as everyone got alot of playing time but Kelly, Mandy and Brooke did a respectful job banging with Asheville's big bodies inside. The lady Kelly covered most of the night was close to 50 lbs bigger but she rarely was a factor during the time Kelly was on her. Sometimes its not what you do but what you keep the player you're covering from doing. I also thought Saudia had a good game , she always plays great defense but she looked to take her shots tonight. Shannon played her best game so far as she really played with purpose and had a nice offensive night. Brittiany is a great point but sometimes gets frustrated and tries to force passes. Thats going to happen but she needs to take some of the burden for the pass and not point out others.. thats the measure of a leader and a point. Everyone got some mins tonight and it was nice to see the ladies play solid ball. It wasn't freedom's best game but it was a decent win that improved them to 4-1.

    Dec. 13 Scores

JV Rockets won again tonight at Enka, not sure of final (wasn't too close from what I was told), that moves the JV's to 6-0!

Freedom wins easily over Owens H.S

Freedom had a very easy game tonite. They beat Owens 46-8 in a game that was never close. Not alot to say as Owens just isnt a good team. The win takes them to 5-1. Next up is Charlotte Christian in a rare saturday game . I hear they have a pretty decent JV team, anyone have anything on them?

East Burke JV girls are looking really good this year. They are undefeated and beat ACR by 14, 50-36. LaSashia Connelly and Keonna Lewis are really playing good for them.

Yeah, they must be fairly decent because ACR was previously unbeaten as well, even though ACR does have two Freshmen starting on their varsity.

McDowell JV's are playing in a Varsity Christmas tourney. Not saying that makes them better, but that's good experience. Shout out to Coach Brooks!
