Clips of Caitlin Benyi , a top power hitter at UCLA in 2006. Her swing has hand torque and a wide stance with great power on the ball, and put up big power hits in the 2006 NCAA championships.

Caitlin Benyi in 2006 (UCLA website)

    BA .320
    Slugging % .560
    7 2B, 1 3B, 9 HR, 37 RBI

She runs with the big dogs. Can she improve her swing?

Sorcerer sophomore Jordan Wallace verbally committed to attend the
Universityof California - Berkeley (Cal) and to join the Cal Golden Bears softball team in the fall of 2009.

Jordan is the first sophomore other than a pitcher or catcher to commit to Cal and play for Coach Diane Ninemire, Jordan hit four home runs in the San Diego exposure last month and hit back-to-back homers in front of about 30 coaches in the Batbusters' Pre-Thanksgiving Tournament, including a grand slam. She is a Bay Area player, has attended the Cal summer camp and has always wanted to play for the Bears.

I took this pictures of her at ASA 14U in August, she is # 2 , she is not a slapper, but a power hitting 3rd base player. Are the Div 1 teams moving away from slapping ?

my point about power has always been why not the Earl Weaver baseball approach for FP?... the 3 run HR. The fence is, after all, only 200 feet away and 3 runs wins the vast majority of FP games. I have seen slap teams, had my offspring play for them and sure they get on base on put pressure on the other team but in the end someone has to drive them in... but my name isn't Candrea... know what I mean! :)

    Power--WCU

All I can say is look at the success WCU had last year and not much of that could be attributed to 4 or 5 hit innings. They won many of their games with 1 or 2 homers. Not saying that's the way all teams are headed but you can't argue with their success.
