Let me throw my two cents worth in here if I may. I didn't get to the Watauga game in question so I can't comment on that one. However I will say that every game I've been to between watauga and McDowell I have always seen the coaches act with the upmost respect. But during a heated game there are always tempers flaring between players and sometimes this may spill over to the benches. This has really been a problem for the varsity games this year because the refs have been the poorest I have ever seen in the 20+ years I've been following the games. As far as coaches go the only ones that I have seen show lack of class are the east burke mens coaches. They seem to want their games to evolve into a street fight . Coach Bliss would never allow the flagrant fouls to happen over ond over from his team that has happened this year at east burke. East Burke has always had a first class program and it is sad to see what this years team has become. :twocents:

Re: the East Burke Men's Coaches

I have a tremendous amout of respect for Coach Lewis and Coach Ramsey from E. Burke. Coach Billy Anderson is still young and I think that he has been a bit overwhelmed by the type of players that he has inherited at East Burke. Hopefully he will establish a bit more control over the program as the years progress.

Maybe your right and I am misjudging coach Lewis and coach Ramsey,I hope so. I do know if any of mcDowell's players acted like some of the East Burke players did at McDowell he would sit their tails on the bench period.

I have never had any experences with Coach Church but whoever McDowell's JV coach is, is the man. He is one of the nicest coaches in the league.

    Dear Married to a Titan,
I haven't been on this thing since I made those comments, and I look back and see what I wrote, and I was wrong.
I apologize for making a rash judgment, (I hate to see kids get chewed out in public) but I'm not the coach, and I was going on what I saw across the gym and what others told me.

I hope this can be (as you say, dropped) and I can be forgiven.
Unfortunately, if I saw some of the times I've been pumped up, I'd get rid of me too. Hence my name...wildbill

So, in the future, I will focus on encouragement for (all) the kids, and I appreciate you being honest with me.

I apologize to the Watauga coaches, and hopefully have learned a lesson.

Apology accepted. We are all guilty of letting our emotions and personal perspectives cause us to speak prematurely. Unfortunately, message boards only amplify those opportunities. Thank you for your honesty, and best of luck in the tournament.
