    McDowell 60 Hopwell 59 !!!!!!!! GO TITANS

Exciting finish as twitty drove the lane with 15 seconds to go to put Mcdowell up by 1 and to win the game as hopewell failed to hit a basket to win. What a season for the Titans. We have always been known for our lady titan basketball and now suddenly our men going to a Regional Final for the 1st time in over 15 years. What a feeling. Good luck Titans

I was right, the Titans won!!!!!!!!!!!!! To be honest, I really had a feeling that McDowell would win this game; don't know why, but once I saw the pairings, I just had that feeling. I'm really happy for the guys and especially for Coach Church after all of the stuff that happened last year.

This couldn't come at a better time for Coach Church. Lots were questioning his coaching and if it was time for a change. This shows Church is the best mens basketball in the conference. Two more games to go, I have a feeling we will be playing Vance which means we are going to have to play really really good ball to win. Can't Wait

Excellent ball game between Hopewell and McDowell. Hopewell was patient and attacked the 1-3-1 defense by getting the ball to (#42) Chaz Green, who had his way most of the night. Chaz is an athletic player built for football (6'5" 240) who plays basketball. The two guys with height Brandon Reber (6'9") and Zach Garst (6'8") were okay but did not overly impress me all that much, I bet Reber never took a shot outside five feet from the basket. Garst was able to shoot some from outside, which for a guy his size shooting I can see why some lower D1 schools are targeting him. Godette, the point guard for Hopewell is pretty good, he's only a sophmore.

As tall as Hopewell was, once again no one in the interior had much luck stopping Petey Hausley. Don't know the exact stats but he had a 20-10 type of game.

There were some key moments in the game. Chris Twitty nailed one from half-court which cut the Hopewell lead from 9 to 6 after one quarter. It was one of those times in the game where Hopewell could had taken control of the game but the timely shot took a bit of the momentum. The other key moment which kept McDowell win the game was the last 4 minutes of the 3rd quarter. Hopewell extended the lead to seven and you could see it slipping away, Coach Church called timeout, the boys regained composure and they made two consecutive stops on defense and followed them up with scores. McDowell took over early in the fourth raising the lead as high as 7 pointrs but Hopewell had one more run and took the lead on two Green free-throws with 28 seconds to go. And from that point Coach Church raised the number 1 and Chris took over at the end. When the game is on the line, Twitty has been money in the bank.

McDowell had a big following tonight even though the student section was kinda slim. Hopewell had probably 150-200 students at the game, the bus drivers and that's about all.

It will be Vance vs McDowell for the chance to go to Chapel Hill...
