    a no-no early in season

    NO-HITTER GRAYSON: Senior pitcher Grayson Ferrell had to go eight innings to earn a no-hitter, as West Johnston escaped with a 1-0 baseball win over Princeton.
    "He kept us in the game pitching and gave us time," coach Mike Jacobs said of Ferrell, whose pitch count was around 115. "That was going to be his last inning. You try to give a kid a chance to finish a game when he's got something special going." West Johnston senior catcher Johnathan McLamb homered in the top of the eighth for the game's only run.

    Yeah, I thought Pate deserved a lot of playing time last year but the varsity was just loaded.

    The "Mighty Trojans v.2" may surprise a few folks this year. :newsmile21:

    DJ McMurchie threw four strong innings holding Olympic to 2 hits to notch his first win of the season and Richie Shaffer launched a mammoth homerun in the 1st inning over the "Black Monster" in centerfield getting the Panthers off to a quick start. David Mailman went 2-3, HR; Kevin Shackelford 3-3; CA Clayton 2-3 and Shaffer finished 3-4, 2 HR's.
