Seth Simmons led off the 1st inning with a solo homer and the Cougars never looked backed on their way to a 9-0 win over the Cadets of Oak Ridge. Five different Cougars had 2 hits each in this contest as 13 total hits were tallied. Justin Batten, Evan Crisco, Patrik Lyons and Simmons all doubled while Crisco and Cameron Clinard had 2 rbi's each.

Lyons pitched three strong innings to pick up the win, not allowing a hit and striking out 3. Freshman Bryan Brown also hurled three scoreless innings in relief allowing only 2 hits while striking out 4.

The Cougars will travel to the Hebrew Academy on Tuesday and host 3A Public Rockingham County at Ernie Shore on Thursday.

    Butler / Ardrey Kell

    Butler 9 - Ardrey Kell 5

After a shaky first inning, Smith settled down and allowed only 2 runs in the final 6. Solid performance by the Butler hitters top to bottom, most if not all batters had at least one hit. Another good team win and good start to conference play.
